Need help against Chaos Dwarves

Post by harley_topper »

I play with an rookie amazon team against an hard hitting chaos dwarve team, my team looks like this

4 Blitzers, two with guard
2 Catchers, one with guard
6 linewoman, one with AG4
4 Re-Rolls
9 FF
I'll get two handicaps

The opposing coach plays a very devastating style. He only tries to destroy his opponent players and forgets the ball. He has also 3 times guard and has two dirty players and a mino with piling on. He only lost one match in this league and grinds the hell out of anyone he has played.
My question is how can I avoid serious damage from my players. I think his tackle will hurt much and my AV 7 will hurt much too. The typicall amazon game (dodging away) is not the best thing to do, because his tackle nullifies my dodge skill.
My last match with amazons against a chaos dwarve team was a 2 - 0 win with a lot of injured players on my team. I need some advice to avoid the same this time.

Well, if he's lost only once, he's probably scored some TDs. That means he must take notice of the ball at some point! Don't picture him for something he's not.

Make two-dice blocks with no follow up. They're less risky than dodges. Dodge one girl and use her to assist another. If the dodge fails, use your team reroll there. Remember that not everyone in his team has tackle (probably no more than 6 actually), so if possible dodge from the guys who don't have tackle. If guard ever comes in handy for you, it means something is going wrong. Keep your girls well spread out. And if you can, try to target the hobgoblins. Without block and with AV7, they're easy to take out, which means less guys on the field for the other team, which in turn makes it harder for them to hurt you.

Well if the mino doesn't have Block then stick a normal line woman next to him. That's a 1/9 chance of turning over and under a 1/3 chance of putting you down. As he has to go 1st and can't use TRR you may even want to just swarm the Mino - leaving it with 1 or 1/2 dice blocks. Your guarders should help here.

Other than that zombie is giving some good advice. Use your own blitzers & guard to block him so that he can't hit you back. If you can, target the hobgoblins and reduce his numbers too.

He don't play the ball, he has made four games with three draws (0-0) and one loose 0-1, he didn't score any TD in his matches.

Ok I didn't give enough information about my opponents team (excuse me )

He has six dwarves two bull centaurs (one with break tackle, tackle, guard and block and one niggling)
and five hobgoblins (4 with block, 2 with tackle, 2 with dirty player and one with sure hands) His mino also has the leader trait and one niggling.

The guys he's played against must really suck! It ain't hard scoring against someone who doesn't play the ball. I once played in a league where everyone would just try to kill the opposition first and foremost. When i joined the league with my skaven, i showed them the hard way (beating them 4-0 and the like) that they should at least pick the ball up first!

Focus on scoring. Ignore the Dwarfs, beat up the hobgoblins, lure the minotaur away from suport, and foul the Bull Centaurs untill they are off the pitch.

The Centaurs are the only ones you have to worry to much about. His Dwarfs are to slow to keep up with you. The goblins are just AV7 suport troops that yours should be able to handel well. The minotaur is a wild animal, see the many threads on dealing with them.

Form a small cage of 4-5 players and run the ball in. You may need to leave a player behind to slow them down, but focus on scoring. Each time you score the field is reset, so anyone in a bad spot is saved.

He might beat your team down, but you will win the game. And if the dice frown upon him, you will not suffer much.

He said he already knows how to win against them, but what he wants is advice to help him stay alive.

You score. Every time you score he has to re-set. Do not score when you are in a good position.

Or play with everyone in the backfield.

Or do not play at all.

Beating CD's is easy. Send one of your players to knock that stupid hat of one of the blockers. :puke:
That'll rile 'em up and they will all chase and try to kill that player. Meanwhile you quietly walk in for th easy score. Repeat ad-naseum.

The fact that he took leader on a mino suggests to me that your opponent is a bit of a muppet, he also strikes me as the kinda person who is playing for CAS...which leaves you in a bit of a bind. TBH i would probably play the game to win, and sod the CAS that I took. In the end you'll recover anyway. Piling 'zons on his Mino seeks a decent plan, without block he's a turnover waiting to happen
