Humans, norse, or dark elf?
I just finsihed my first newbie leauge in which I played an amazon team, and foudn they did not really fit my style. I am more of the pound a hole and run through it type. However I found the lack of speed on the Amazons very frustrating so I don't really want to go with the true heavy hitter teams. As such I am considering going with either a human, norse or dark elf team as my permanent leauge team. Which would you go with and why?

I think you'll find the Norse have the exact same lack of speed (in fact, the exact same stats...) as the Amazons, so I'd try a little something different there.
My personal suggestion? DEs. You'll have to start off with mostly linemen, because they're so expensive, but the 4 blitzers and 2 WEs are really nice and you'll find the 4 AG on everyone is really really nice.
Of couse, everyone here will recommend Humans. They always recommend Humans or Orcs.

I would definitely agree with BadMrMojo about the Norse not being the answer. They do not move any quicker.
The Dark Elves do, and with AG4 to help you on your way. However, you need to start out with a low powered team to get RRs and FF, so they can be a very difficult challenge for a new coach. I don't want to turn this into a starting roster debate on you so I hope this will go under the radar. I think about 2 blitzers, 9 lineelves, 2 RRs and 7FF is about right. get an apoth very early too. Still they can be a struggle to keep going if they start taking damage early. With a bit more experience under your belt, you will better understand how to keep these costly elves alive.
The Humans are a forgiving team for the new coach. That said I can here BadMrMojo groaning from here.
I have played both teams for several seasons and in fact one after the other. Both are entertaining, so I guess from here the choice is yours.

But, you did state that you liked toThey always recommend Humans or Orcs.
The Humans are better at this because they can get ST skills with their blitzers. They are also able to run or pass the ball with equal ease. I'm not sure from the quote if you wished to run it more or just create a gap and send some long range receivers through. Still Humans can do both well.pound a hole and run through

For a punishing running drive, choose Humans. Humans have, in my opinion, one of the strongest running games in Bloodbowl, and certainly have the speed to go with it.
Dark Elves, despite the fluff, are still very much a flair team. AG4 throwers on your roster and you'd be mad not to examine passing options. You can still run a good running game but you have no access to stand firm and only doubles access to guard, which are godsends on a running team.
I think Humans are your best bet.

Thanks for the advice. Basically what I meant was that I like having some bashiness to create holes in the line that can be exploited by faster team members. As such slow slamming teams like orcs and dwarves do not do it for me. I have considered the Lizardmen to but there are a few already in our league and I would like to be a bit different. A throwing game is always nice to have too. I have nothing against it, but to me a pure finesse team such as woodies can get boring. Sometimes it just feels good to smack some one. So yeah humans look good. I wish Dark Elves were really more brutal and less flashy, but alas they are not. If I could get my hands on the rules for Khemri I would think about them as well, but I am not really sure what their stats are like. Some how I think if I remember, they fit the bill as well. Anywho, thanks for the help.

If you are feeling adventurous you could also try skaven, not extra good at ripping holes, but rat ogres are OK, they can also play the passing game, the running game, the fouling game, and they get mutations too bonus!
Ahhh, mutated rat ogres.... is there nothing they cant do?
