Orc Devellopment

Post by Shortarse »

Ok question Black orc just got his first skill and my first thought was block but given that my next opponent is pro elves followed by dark elves and skaven do I go for MB first?
In the team I have 4 blitzers (1 is AG4), 1 troll (with Block), 3 other basic BO's (so 4 BOs total), a thrower and 2 gobbos.

vote for Block on the grounds that you have to get them down before you can hurt them and Block adds to that.

If you have to ask, take Block. Then if you have to ask again, take Guard.

Overwhelmingly, block - you'll get more chances to roll against that crispy AV7, and it will save you looking worriedly over at your rerolls!

Block was my original plan. With mix of guard/MB as second. Oh and i forgot to say it was a double skill but chose to ignore that part as don't use them for anything other than hitting and cage formation.

If its a double, take Side Step, its unbelievably annoying for an opponent to account for.

My vote is Diving catch.....

However as im going to face this team with Slann thats probably why

Block.

Or if you take the double Id consider either S/S (It is annoying) or Jump up to help build / move the cage...

It's block all the way. Cas rate increases far more with the amount of 2DB you can throw compared to how much MB you have. As you have ST4 block is the no brainer.

Double, huh? How long will you be playing? Side Step/Block on a BOB is unbelievably fun, but without Block it's not nearly so good. If you're pretty sure you'll get in at least 15-20 games, Side Step or Block. If you're not in it for 15 games, take Block.

Oh, and Guard over Mighty Blow, in my book.

As the 3 other BoB’s are rookies I’d say block.

If they already had block then you might want to consider MB to get him up to 16 spps’s sooner. 8 players with block (4 blitzers, 3 BoB’s and thrower) compared to 4 or 5 is plenty on a normal Orc team so you can take the risk.

My general plan depends on how fast the money, skills and damage come in.

My goal after, say, 6 games:
Troll with Guard (or Block).
4x BOB with at least 2x Block, preferably 3x or 2x and 1x Guard. Maybe 1x Block-Guard, maybe a Side Step* player or +ST if lucky.
4x Blitzer with at least 1x MB/T, 2x Guard, ideally 1xMB and or another MB instance on a Guard, or a specialty Blitzer with a +MA/AG/ST or Side Step if lucky.
1x Thrower with Block (or Dodge or +MA/AG/ST).
3x Lineman, at least 1 with Block (or Guard, or +AG/ST).
3x TRR, whatever FF I end up with (projected 5).
Projected TV: 1.35M with 9 improvements at 22.222k apiece (what my math comes out to when you take doubles and stats into account and then exempt the ones I'd ignore).

*Block/Side Step BOBs kill drives and put you in position to win games. Side Step BOBs without Block annoy your opponent, but break your heart.

+1 for Block. I go MB only on slowly developing Black Orcs to catch up with the others if they already have Block.

Took the advice and my block BO rolled nothing but skulls and pushes  Though he did pull off a TD saving intercept! :D
As a result of the 1 match Vs elves I now have 3 BO's with Block and my AG4 blitzer is now a blodger :)
Got caught short on a couple of occasions due to my throwers positioning and Mv 5 so opted for KO return for him. 5 casualties and a draw giving me 4 skill rolls not bad for a nights work.

Awesome.

Good that your BOBs all went up. Block makes it much easier to advance them, and to keep them alive. Here's hoping two of them get Guard and two Side Step in the next few games!
