CD: Fan Factor or Apoth
So I am putting together the Chaos Dwarf team for the next ECBBL league
The team I have decided to go for is:
3 Chaos Dwaves
2 Bull Centaurs
6 Hob Goblins
4 Rerolls
...
Everything went as it should untill the end of the calculation.
Question I am stuck with is do I buy:
1 Apoth and 4FF
or
9FF (hence no apoth)
Last league I manage to start of without an Apoth and it went alright but the ECBBL is a hard-hitting league... so do I risk a dead Bull Centaur?

Heh, a bit frightened of repeating Mike's last season mass haemorage of Bull Centaurs eh?
Remember for the Premiership season we'll all be taking rookie teams, I think you can risk your BCs for the 1 or 2 games it will take you to get an apoth, just make it your first purchase. You really dont' want to chance FF4.
If you end up in my conference I'll give you first game, I promise no gratuitous casualties, I'll be coaching dark elves

yah, I mean if Mike can get BCs killed.... I still wonder how both of mine survived the League.Heh, a bit frightened of repeating Mike's last season mass haemorage of Bull Centaurs eh?
Agree, that's why I had doubts about this. I need money to buy CDs forYou really dont' want to chance FF4

Grumbledook I'm pretty sure of the line up. Having to BCs is important to me, even more now that I have had a league to get used to a certain play style.
It looks like FF9

I don't know if I'd use your starting lineup, frankly because you don't have enough CD's to start with. One early injury to a CD and you are putting hobbo fodder on the LoS. Also one of the great advantages of a CD team is that you start with more block than most teams, and at the moment you are sacraficing that for a second ST4 player. Now admitedly BC's are nice players, but do you really need 2 of them at the start? As I recall I started my CD's as 5CD's 6HG's 1BC 8FF 4RR, which gives you a nice strong LoS (and gets those pesky CD's SPP quicker) and doesn't mean that the BC's hog all the TD's (how many anacronyms?) early on. Obviously the second BC's is bought ASAP, because I've found at higer TR's CD's tend to suffer without 2 of the buggers

That's how i started my current chaos dwarf team. After over 20 games, if i were to start one again, i'd use the exact same roster!
The main reason why i didn't start with bull centaurs is because they're very expensive and i always avoid the expensive players when starting a team (the only exception being hugely undercost mummies in undead teams but then i avoid the 90k wights). This allows me to get more rerolls and FF to start. One nice side effect that i didn't anticipate is that bull centaurs are the ones collecting most of the SPPs (with TDs and CAS), so not having one on my starting roster allowed the hobgoblins to get a couple skills through TDs, which has proven very helpful.
The only reason that i didn't start with 6 rerolls (i nearly did in place of the 7th hobgoblin) was because i didn't think it would get used enough to warrant its price. So far this has proven right in most games.

Good roster; the one I've chosen as my next team ditched 2 Hobgobs and 2 RR, instead having a Bull and an Apoth. Tried the team out against a max strength Undead team and beat them 3-0. With 5-6 players on the pitch for the last TD.Korhil wrote: I've always liked a roster Zombie posted... it works very well.
1 Troll
4 Chaos Dwarfs
7 Hobgoblins
5 Re-Rolls
9 Fan Factor
Develops well too.

ok I see your point and maybe I'll replace a hobGob and 3FF for a CD which effectively will give me the line up I had last season.I don't know if I'd use your starting lineup, frankly because you don't have enough CD's to start with. Yes, I am sacrificing a CD over a BC but not as much to get ST4 but to get some muscle with movement... I mean let's face it CDs are not fast

I had two BCs to start with last season and with one as a ball carrier and one as a rapid-task unit it worked pretty well considering everything (years of absense from the game and a bunch of very tough opponents
I've considered the Troll version of the team, but I have adopted a play style which I am going to continue with and build on at least one season more.... a Troll might be added at a later date though

What's your take on a tournament setup for chaos dwarves? I'm inclined to go 2BC,5CD,4HG -route, but I'm interested in hearing other opinions...
