Re: Wrestle on Necro Wolves
I've had a lot of success with a couple of wrackle BMs on a chaos team. When you need to take down a blodger, they are there for you.
I also like wrestle on Zombies - especially in an advanced league. For 60k you get a player that can tie up much more expensive players better then with a block zombie.

Just FYI a "test" of 4 games is about as relevant as gut feeling.

Wrestle on Necro Wolves
Whereas gut feelings are - evidently - pure gold.Jimmy Fantastic wrote:Block is so superior it makes wrestle not worth consideration.
Personally, I see wrestle as a defensive skill. I agree that it's most useful on fast players, and while I'm not convinced Werewolves are the best choice, it's a worthy experiment.
Particularly when it allows me to keep the ball long enough to run upfield for an equalising TD

Not surprised the experiment ends thus. Just wait till a Wrestle Wolf rolled +ST and a doubles, then you'd really kick yourself. And at the latest, when he did wrestle himself down, then the opponent would kick him, too.
Wrestle is the kind of a sacrificial role the Ghouls are made for.

Re: Wrestle on Necro Wolves
My main issue with wrestle on Wolves is it stops them being used as marking players.
To me, if a wolf doesn't double, then it goes block/dodge/sidestep/tackle. If it does double, it adds MB and takes the same path...sidestep and wrestle don't go together. What do you then replace it with?
The problem with wrestle on a werewolf is that it shines when you take down something that is more valuable than you. For example, I'm running Wrestle as first skill on all my HE linos atm (barring a kicker), and I'm really liking it. The ability to drop clawbomb chaos warriors easily, and force them to the ground is really useful. I wouldn't however take it on a standard build catcher (though it is excellent on ballhound catchers), because I want them to be mobile and moving. To me, the wolf falls into that category...as well as the reduced damage output, I just don't wanna lie him down!
I'm not that surprised by the outcome, but props for trying. I tested an orc team with gobbos instead of linos recently in Box...can be interesting to try new things.

Wrestlers die. Werewolves are expensive and improve rapidly. Save Wrestle for Ghouls, or maybe take it (after Block) on a 5th normal skill or something.

On a slightly off topic note where would you put wrestle on a Necro team? I tend to use my ghouls as ball carriers and I much prefer block on WW. As for the wights and FG it acts against there role in the team just leaving the zombies.

One Ghoul plus the Zombies.BarmiArmi wrote:On a slightly off topic note where would you put wrestle on a Necro team? I tend to use my ghouls as ball carriers and I much prefer block on WW. As for the wights and FG it acts against there role in the team just leaving the zombies.
The Ghoul as your safety, the zombies to better tie up the expensive players trying to kill them.
Of course from my experience Zombies die regularly and rarely get SPP outside of MVPs, so you won't have to pick too many skills for them anyway.

I gave a blodge/sf/guard CW fits last game with my wrestle/fend zombie.

Every time I doubt giving Wrestle to Zombies, they keep a Block Mummy busy half of the game or save me from a game-stopping blodge/sidestepper or...
