also, you'll need to lengthen his toe nails into claws..
Yeah, I'm undecided on the tail; it would be nice to be more ratty, but then again I really like the shape and look of the existing hairy tail!. As for claws, shouldn't be too tricky
And a bit more progress on the rat ogre - he now has a natty new helmet and a shoulder pad (the pad is a greenstuff cast from one of the 2nd ed ogres). Bar a few minor details, he's now done. The main question is, where do I put the shoulder pad straps?
The image below shows two mock-ups - either between the two arms, or underneath the lower arm. Which do you think looks best?
Heff...Keeping the Dwarf (and lego) hate alive
If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.
Thanks for the input guys; did a bit more work on him this evening and he's now pretty much ready for some paint:
I gave him the lower slung strap as advised - the strap is probably a bit thicker than I would have liked, but it seems to look OK. I've put in a couple of fastenings on his straps and belt buckle and extended out the rear of his helmet so it ties in with the other skaven players (OK they have 2 additional neck plates, but 1 should be enough to reinforce things stylistically!). I also gave him some fur on the underside to his jaw/neck, but you can't see that in the pics.
Of course the best thing about this whole conversion is that the base model only cost me £1.70
You know, I did actually try doing some claws, but the contact area between the greenstuff and toenail is so small the b****y things kept falling off! I may retry, or then I could always disguise the lack of claws with static grass
I was lucky (or unlucky?) enough to be away overnight with work earlier this week. Stuck in a hotel by myself, I managed to paint up 99% of the Rat ogre. He just needs basing and his fingernails painting. I'm hoping to get him finished in time for the Golden Football deadline this month.
He's how he stands at the moment:
And here's the journey from rubbery plastic D&D Fiendish Girallon, to mean and hulking Rat Ogre:
