I'm torn on this one Ax..

on one hand I am impressed as always at the creativity and execution..

on the other hand the helmet bothers me, period.. it's not the paint job, it's the simple question:

diving catch or failed dodge??

the body and mitt position is perfect for diving catch, but I actually think the helmet makes the mini look slightly clumsier as a result, as though the dive was not intentional...

would have loved to have seen the mini without the helmet.. :-?

Unfortunately its one of those times where the limits of modelling mean I can't levitate the model in the air ;-) Personally I really dislike visible wire or clear plastic rods and find them to be very detracting, hence the helmet. I like to think of it as a diving catch, if my opponents prefer, they can treat it as an in built failed dodge!

I'm sure you could have hooked up some tiny magnets in the model and base which would allow the mini to hover around 5-8mm above the base...

really axiom, you must try harder.. :P

And update on the Gutter Runner, the components were from these 3 models (the dead skaven is from Mordheim and provided the right arm, tail and lower legs):
Image

I'm now steadily making progress - hell, I might even have a complete team by Christmas ;)

Here's player #5 - the first Blitzer:
Image

Made from a combination of parts, he hopefully comes across as being a muscular bruiser! Body is from a WHFB beastman, head is a skaven catcher plus greenstuff casts of the eye guards from one of the skaven blitzers. Right arm also comes from a Blitzers, legs are from a skaven lineman and the kneepads are also gs casts. Oh, and the shoulder spike is from the modern spikes and balls set.

And for those of you who like to see group shots...here's a group shot!

Mate, have you seen the Neomics ratten? They're pretty sweet, and might make a good source of parts for your project.

Yep, and very nice they are too. Haven't seen a use/need for them yet to be honest, and all of my planned 12-strong squad are now converted, but thanks for the suggestion :)

That thrower and that blitzer look absolutely stunning, totally in the spirit of 2nd ed, but with more natural and realistic poses. Fantastic. Not a fan of the catcher or ogre, but hey.

Also, thanks for posting in my thread on warseer, which reminded me to come and update my thread on here. :)

Thanks guys! It's proving to be a bit of a slog from what started in April as just a play to make Fat Rat (toying with the name Skrit Bilebelly). I never really anticipated converting a full team, but it's been great fun and everyone's feedback is most welcome.

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

I would explain my issues with the ogre, but I can see that others have basically covered it - great painting, but a very crude and uninspiring base figure. The only issue I have with the catcher is that I'm not a fan of dramatic in-motion poses, I find there is more tension and character in poses like the thrower and blitzer. Entirely subjective preferences. ;)
