Alternative Vampires?

Post by Zoglug »

Hey everyone,

Looking to piece together a vamp team, but im not a fan of the current GW models. Ive found some old Demons (pink/blue horrors) and have started thinking i could use them as thralls. That leaves me wondering what i could use as Vamps and i am at a loose end. Does anyone have any decent suggestions on what i could use? Or indeed if it is a daft idea.

Cheers

Zog

To continue the theme of Horrors as Thralls I suppose the first edition Greater Daemons of Tzeentch would fit in the teams look, but would cost you an absolute bomb and may look a bit out of place as they are way too big for ST4. Other than those, not really sure what would fit with horrors staying on theme?

If you are set in having a demon themed team, follow Digger's advice and check out Impact!s range. They have some Cthulhu themed miniatures which might be a suitable size and ugly enough to serve as vamps.

Alternatively, Gaspez makes a beautiful vampire team. You can buy it directly from them, but Impact! Should also be stocking them soon.

Cheers guys. Ive not really got a 'theme' per se, i just found these 10 horrors in a box and began wondering how i could use them as vampires. Ill check out the impact minis this evening when i get home from work, but im starting to question whether the demon theme can be pulled off. Ive seen the Gaspez minis and im just not keen on the thralls.

I just dont want to end up with either the GW vamp team which i think is horrible, of the usual ghouls/strigoi vamps teams ive seen about, even though these teams can look ace!

I really enjoy the 5th Ed GW human team, you could certainly repurpose them to be thralls and combine them with vampires.

I believe someone on these forums did a squig hopper vampire team, maybe someone more industrious than I will dig it up and link it for you

For Vamps i'd go with the Gaspez Arts figures, they're very good.

With a bit of conversion I think the WFB metal Dark Elf Corsairs would make decent vamps. (The last metal range before the plastics came out)

If you want to do the Tzeentch thing, get some Flamers as vamps. and I know it's besides the point but the current Horrors are also very cool, so I'd use them over the older ones.

If you want to run 'proper' Vamps, the Gaspez team is indeed very nice! :)

Well I'm in the progress of making this Squig/Smurf themed vampire team. IRL has delayed the progress but finished a vamp for the Golden Football Blitzer competition: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=36125 The squig/night goblin idea came from Garion in a similar thread to this one.

Who would eat who if you choose black orcs and squigs?

This is a very good question and one i thought about myself last night. I have since been keeping an eye out on eBay to get some of the multi part night goblins and using them as thralls and the squigs as vamps!

ps, i love your smurf theme!!!

Thx.

After some thought I picked squig hoppers rather than squigs as they are supposed to have AG4 and most of the time carry the ball... And how would a squig do that?
