Good models to use as Witch Elves for 2nd Ed Dark Elf team?

Post by RogueThirteen »

Has anyone found any miniatures they really like as Witch Elves with the 2nd Ed Dark Elf team? I was finally successful in acquiring a team and want to build one up as a gift for my brother, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to use for the Witches.

Since the old 2nd Ed Dark Elves are so small, the modern era Witch Elves look far too large in comparison, I think, so matching that original scale is a bit trickier. I'd prefer to use metal miniatures, since for whatever odd reason I hate mixing plastics and metals on the same team.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

OOP WHFB Witch Elves are perfect, size and style. I just used hand swaps and they fit in perfectly. Look for the Marauder Miniatures era, they work nicely.

I had the same issue finding witches for my dark elf team. I'm normally OCD level conservative in my desire to use old skool models for my teams but I really don't like the old WHFB witch elves. To me, a witch elf should be beautiful, albeit deadly. The old Marauder witch elves have square faces and look like drags - in my humble opinion...

So, I broke all my holy principles and use GW's new witch elves for my 2nd ed. team.

They are not too big - approx. the same height as the linemen - and I think they look great. However, like with all good things, GW has now ruined them by retracting their metal versions and replacing them with Failcasts. Shouldn't be to hard to find on eBay, though.

Here's a picture of (someone elses) weapon-snipped BB witch elf:

Some people use the 2nd edition DE Cheerleader as a Witch Elf. I don't think she's too bad.

Yea, that would be a perfect model with a simple hand swap. I just doubt I'll be able to ever find two of them unfortunately.

Yeah that is the witch I have used and is a great fit for 2nd ed. The one in your picture is painted by Urb if I remember correctly?

Yeah as already mentioned above the GW WFB Witch Elves dont look too out of place with the 2nd Ed Dark Elf Team. The WFB Witch elves are slightly smaller than the 3rd Ed Blood bowl counterparts.

Also Reaper minis do some cool female figs that would work with a bit of cutting and green stuff. I think the dark heaven range is slightly smaller than the heroic 28/32mm scale too.

LODONI FEMALE ROGUE Dark Heaven Legends
NEREA FEMALE ANTI PALADIN Dark Heaven Legends
MERISIEL ICONIC FEMALE ELF ROGUE Pathfinder

The paint job on the WE above looks ace!

Thanks for all the advice fellas, this is really helpful.

Can't believe I didn't notice the old cheerleader is still available. Been awhile, obviously, since I browsed through the GW BB Elf section. For some reason, I was sure there was a newer Dark Elf cheerleader sculpt that had replaced it, but maybe I was thinking of the High Elf Cheerleader?

I used the sandy groper witch elf (expensive and not sure if its still available but amazing sculpt) and an impact witch elf mini with a sort of vega-looking mask. They are the same scale work well with the team.

The impact black widows look cool too. Esp the one with the mask. They have a slight demonette look about them
