Chaos Warrior Skill-Ups - Two Questions.
The team is linked in my sig.
Numbers 1 and 3 skilled up after my last game. This was supposed to be an easy selection: Guard and Guard.
However, the Marquis rolled an 11, and Flayer, the blodge CW, rolled doubles.
Now, I'm debating taking the AG+ (I do have two AG4 Beastmen already), and Sidestep (then follow that up with Guard at 51).
Any thoughts?

Can't see the sig, sorry - am on a handheld.
Still, depending on your skill progressions elsewhere, have you considered Jump Up for that warrior, followed by Pile On & MB later down the line?

My greatest ever player was an AG4 Chaos Warrior... he had a few doubles on him, too, and was like a Wood Elf wearing a tank. He was amazing.
Echoing Shteve0's thoughts on a Jump Up CPOMB guy later down the line, but as he already has Block and Dodge, Sidestep may well be a nice idea.

Take the +AG chaos warrior.
I'd probably sidestep the chaos warrior, as you haven't got a killer team.

Format matters here for the AG increase: if you have to stay tight, my first instinct is to take the AG and SS, then cut the -AV/+AG Beastman. You don't need to carry 120k in +AG, but +AG Warriors are just badass.
Sidestep for the other guy. I'm stretching my brain looking for some alternative, but he's just such a great cog in the wheel. Diving Tackle wouldn't be crazy. But Side Step is better. If he makes it to 76, you're spoiled with options: Tentacles, Fend, Two Heads....

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

If you want a real laugh try and get Leap on the AG4 CW, they're hilarious cage breakers. Just yell 'incoming'!

Re: Chaos Warrior Skill-Ups - Two Questions.
My fear is that your team is getting sidetracked too much from the "normal" Chaos development path. A great example is the +MV beastman. He'd be great right now with MB and Claw. +AG warriors and Dodge doubles warriors just add to this confusion.
From an optimal point of view, I'd go with Guard on both. ST4 Guarders are great and it saves 30k in TV compared to +AG and a doubles skill. 2 more Guard would also increase the raw strength of the team a lot.
However, since you already have a lot of stat increases on the team, +AG and Side step would be the "fun" option. The danger with the fun option is that you'll start losing with the team due to a TV that doesn't match the capabilities of the team. Bashers will now outbash you due to having more S skills and elves will still outelf your team no matter how many +AG and Agility skills you take.

I do hate that so many skills are sub-optimal.Ullis wrote: However, since you already have a lot of stat increases on the team, +AG and Side step would be the "fun" option. One of the glorious things about chaos is that they can specialise in many different ways. But when it comes down to it there are really only half a dozen skills (block, guard, MB, Claw, PO and tackle) you want to take with a handful of others occasionally scattered around.
There is something to be said for having a cool player though and even when suffering a horrific loss if that guy manages to pull of something cool or finally uses that skill you gave him it can make the game memorable in a good way.
I am still quite fond of my lrb4 wardancer who aged 1st skill -1 ST but got +AG so I kept him for a couple of games until he pretty much single-handedly lost me a game by failing multiple leap and dodge rolls. He was heading for the assistant coaches bench but got MVP (voted for by the opposing fans) and rolled a double so I gave him dauntless (doubles choice in lrb4). Then got a double on 3rd skill too so got MB.

Re: Chaos Warrior Skill-Ups - Two Questions.
I agree somewhat, but I suggest one way to manage the issue with a team like Chaos (which can be quite a blank canvas) is to have a master plan ready at the start of the league, such that you already know what to do when the doubles and stat increases come up. I know that's quite hard, and takes a lot of preparatory work and discipline, but in this way the doubles and stat increases fit a purpose, and become "more optimal" (or at least "less sub-optimal") and thus more fun.spubbbba wrote:I do hate that so many skills are sub-optimal...Ullis wrote:However, since you already have a lot of stat increases on the team, +AG and Side step would be the "fun" option. All the best.

Re: Chaos Warrior Skill-Ups - Two Questions.
Well my preferred solution would be something I saw in a thread started by Darkson. I liked it as it was relatively simple and not too drastic a change but would encourage more diversity.
The idea was to make the must have skills like block, dodge, Guard etc 30K and the poor ones such as catch or passblock 10K. I think some teams that started with these skills like dwarfs, norse and zons would need some tweaking (though I’d remove mass dodge from zons anyway and change their stats) and there would be a bit of a debate about the borderline skills.
