Old World Bottlecaps

Post by Virral »

With things going so well over at the Aussie Block Dice campaign on IndieGoGo, I wanted to add a fun little extra that was themed to match the dice concept. Originally I looked at doing reroll tokens using the dice artwork, but that felt a little flat and boring.

Then, I had a brainwave! What could be more appropriate for an Australian themed Blood Bowl project than bottlecaps from the Old World to use as tokens? A few evenings spent with Photoshop later, and plenty of borrowed inspiration from the awesomely creative people here and on the Ausbowl forums, I came up with the following six designs:

Each design will be printed on a real life bottlecap, and the pack of six will be a free gift to anyone who is getting at least six sets of dice as part of the campaign (with the option for anyone to buy extra sets for $5). The company making them is currently printing up samples of my initial designs (some seen here, some not) and I'll post those up when I've got them so people can see what they look like in the flesh.

I'll make the official announcement about these probably on Monday (need to make sure the designs are good enough quality to print before I commit), but in the meantime I couldn't help sharing :)

If things go well and they get a good response, I may also do a second set of six caps with softdrinks rather than beers too. I hope people like them, they were great fun to make and I think they'll make a nice little alternative to the usual acrylic/cardboard tokens we mostly use.

For anyone who isn't familiar with some of the beer brands, in clockwise order from the top left they are:

Toohey's Extra Dry
(My own design)
Little Creatures Pale Ale
Victoria Bitter aka VB
Heineken
Budweiser
