Necromantic positional figures

Post by Jembo17 »

Just wondered if anyone had suggestions for flesh golem, wight and werewolf figures for my necromantic team that i'm assembling.

Found some nice wights made by 'Mano di Porco', and two nice werewolves at 'Willy Miniatures'. If anyone has any of these figs, are they any good?

And re the flesh golems, I like the look of the 'Igor' star player figure for one, but am stumped on what to use for the second. Found a nice 'Funk n Stein' figure that was mentioned somewhere in this forum but it's out of production. Greebo do some cool golems, but i'm not sure on their actual size in relation to other players on the pitch as they look quite big.

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. :D

Willy miniatures are big. Big willies may not look good with the rest of your players.

Heff...Keeping the Dwarf (and lego) hate alive
If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

The Willy's are "30mm" according to the manufacturer.... Making them rather large-ish unless, perhaps, done as a team... I have no experience here....

I have used many and sundry models, settling on "size" as a medium, and thus:

Zombies: gw rotters, a zombified Greaser Geargrinder, and Incursion "bomber zombies" for regulars; a pair of old citadel zombies for Journey-Zeds, and a Fantasy Flight "lieutenant" fig for one freshly killed....

Wights: I've tried everything... finally going with a pair of Privateer Press Mechanithralls....

Golems: Reaper Clay Golem and Lab Mutant (same model, but LM with base tab and mohawk added) till I settled on keeping size by using the 5th edition gw Golem alongside the Funk-n-stein.... However, the gw Frank-n-stein is very serviceable and a close third in the voting.... The Malifaux "alternative" golem is quite nice and I have a spare....

Ghouls: I'm using the Deathball (Heresy Miniatures) Ghoul and the same sculptors other three ghouls since they are all awesome and look similar.... Before that I used Gods of Aegyptus ghouls and still have them in the extras....

Werewolves: Nearly all weres are too big.... The closest, without being size four, is Secrets of the Third Reich werewolves.... Again for size considerations, I settled on the Blood Bowl Wilhelm Chaney and Slarga Foulstrike (despite the four arms) and am quite happy with them.... I am using a Willy(?) werewolf for the 4 St Wilhelm Chaney....

Mummies: If you are expanding to have an Undead option, then I suggest the Willy's Mummies! They are, alongside second/third edition gw minis, a perfect St 5 and quite nice sculpts imho.... I am currently base coating the two after suffering with using the puny gw crummy mummies....

Best wishes for your Necro coaching career!

You're welcome... it's been my passion of quite a few years now! :orc:

If you are looking for a uniform group of zombies, try Roadkill Ragers:

They actually come eight to a package (three duplicates) and are on the 28mm side of things....

The Mechanithralls:

I use #2 and #5 for Wights

The Withershadow Combine:

The one with the book makes a good coach....

I've been so ludicrous about necro/undead mini alternatives that I should have something useful (on the relative cheap)... if you get interested give me a PM....

Yeah the Willy Wolves are huge compared to the GW team. I have got two of them and though the sculps are great they stick out like sore thumbs against the wights and zombies. You'd have to get the full Willy team. I'd consider the Secrets of the third reich ones they are pretty good.

As for Zombies the road ragers look good.
