do you have a gnome team?

Post by Da Crusha »

Hi guys, I have noticed a serious lack of painted gnome teams while doing my yahoo and google-fu. I would like to see some painted teams. so If you have one, can you please post a pic of it? I'm trying to get ideas of paint schemes and stuff like that. thanks.

For the robots look for an Iron Man armour gallery, he has been victim to every metallic colour scheme ever. For laziness sake I would just go with the traditional blue body, red hat on the gnomes, like a run of the mill garden ornament. 'Lawndown Red Caps' or something, just my two bits.

I had the same problem finding painted gnomes when I started. I decided to go with traditional red hat with blue tunics and white beards. I went with pure metallics (silver, with brass details and brown washes) for the contraptions to keep it simple and quick. I would have preferred marine grey with brass details, but decided to keep it simple. Sorry, I don't have pictures but I would look at some Warmachine galleries for inspiration for the contraptions.

thanks for the suggestions. I will probably mess around with colors for the contraptions. for the gnomes Ive already started with classic blue w/red hats and white beards.

Picture isn't the best as they're a tad dark, but they're blue suits, red boots and hats and white beards...

I need to take some new pictures I have added sand to the bases. Also I opted for construction cone colored hats and a construction theme.

I also magnitized pieces to make them poseable and (dazed/downable):

Just take the driver out and place him face up or down and it only takes one hex/space on the board.

cool stuff guys. I painted a contraption yesterday, not a big fan of the way it came out so I might strip it and repaint. but its primarily red with blue arms.sprayed another one blue this morning and going to try a primarily blue approach.

For me gnomes are all about function over form. I don't see them having coloured contraptions at all, I reckon they would be made of brass, bronze, steel and the like. Black undercoat, some metallic drybrushing, a few spots of rust, damage and a top coat of Tamiya smoke would be sorted.

As for "uniform" - pick a team name first then pick a there around that. You know the soccer team Standard Liege? How about sub-standard liege? ;-)

I really like these little sculpts. Not the best execution I admit, but bags of character and fun!
