Re: ChenZhen painting log - "Doom Trike" update Dec. 20th

Post by ChenZhen »

Finished the trike. Working on the driver now. This is the first go at freehand numbers. I figured the trike would be easier than shoulder pads to start.

Will try to get a good trike and team shot on a real non-phone camera when this is all finished, but this is what I have for now.

I think it looks awesome! If you used that against me I'd even give you +1 MA because it looks pretty fast to me!

As an aside, the seat looks really comfy too! :-D

Norse & Neil- Thanks much!

Here are the star player conversions for the team.

Barik Farblast, Boomer Eziasson, Flint Churnblade, non conversion Grim Ironjaw, and Zara the Slayer.

I know that Zara is a human, but I really wanted an excuse to use this mini. One of my favorite that GW ever made (and I had 2 in my box o'dwarves)!

Nor would I! I spun the wheel before I glued it in place to make sure it had clearance. I started to add a protective cover, but I like the semi suicidal feel to a crazed maniac riding inches away from death.

It also feels more "realistic" to me. I played with a death roller in cyanide game. It always felt ridiculous when I failed a GFI or skilled out on dice (really, that guy punched the steamroller... and won?!?). However, on this one I totally can see it!

@Inkpwn: that clip was hilarious...especially when they use the words "best" and "clips" (plural) in the description of Ghost Rider 2!

No painting update, but I did get to play my first table top game of BB!

I had a blast. I really enjoy playing with minis that I have painted, and it was fun to do some gaming "in real life" rather than just on computer. Had fun, got a better handle on the rules, and I'm excited for more!

Re: ChenZhen painting log - Counters and 3DB tourney results

Post by ChenZhen »

Quick update. I recently played in the 3 Die Brawl tournament in Iowa City, Iowa. It was a really good time! I went down with my brother-in-law. We had both played Cyanide and Fumbbl, but we had very limited table top experience before heading down. Our combined table top play experience consisted of 3 turns we played against each other the night before heading down, and one full game I had played against a different friend.

I ended up with 3 shutout wins and 1 loss (2-1) to the tournament champ, and won the best defense award.

These were the Turn, Score, Re-Roll, and Bribe counters that I painted up.

I had been working on (but did not finish in time) a dugout/display board for the team. Full team shots when I complete that.

*Heff, look away now for your own good*

The Team build that I went with

6 Blockers all w/Guard
2 Blitzers
2 Runners
1 Deathroller
2 Re-rolls
1 Bribe

We also are starting a Twin Cities League August 31st, so I should be playing on a more regular basis. Hopefully this also means I will be painting on a more regular basis!

Congrats for the tournament result!
"Best defense" is a very "dwarvish" award to conquer!
:D

Can't way to see that dugout!

Congrats in your results!

The dwarf team looks great and the counters are quite nice too.

I'm looking forward to see the team in the display board

Here is the finished dugout.

Some things worked out, others didn't. I like the combo display stand / dugout idea, and I think I may try it again.
