Looking for zombie ideas

Post by Xac »

Hi,

I've been trying to complete an undead/necro team that doesn't seem too cartooney for a long time...

And now that I have all positionals ready to get painted, I feel my zombies don't fit with the team...

As everyone, I started with the GW zombies on a standard GW undead team

As I was changing the positionals for other companies miniatures (willy's mummies and ghouls, warmachine's wights, gaspez's ulfs as werewolfs and franarcilla's golems) I changed my zombie miniatures a bunch of times...

First I used Willy's zombies, but they were too big and not enought zombie-like to me

Then I bought some mantic, but they were too small and they seemed too alive, as 28days later zombies, not George Romero's ones...

Then I substitute them for some West Wind Productions Roadkill Ragers zombies, but still they look too 28days later kind of virus infested and are still a bit small

And lastly I thought I found the perfect ones, great sculpts, perfect posse and looking...red box lesser undead. But as soon as they were in my hands, I realized that even though they were perfect in many ways, there was a size problem...way too small (it reminds me something an exgf told me once...doh!)

So...do you know any other zombies that could fit? I've seen tons of them, none has convinced me, but I'm sure that the perfect ones have to be out there (next to the truth, maybe)

Thanks a lot in advance for your help

Hi Xac! What are you using for your positionals?

I personally used the mantic zombies with some Warlord Games celt legs. This made them a little taller than standard though admittedly they're very much in the 28 days later bracket.

At the other side of the spectrum, I loved axiom's zombies from the Necro team he put together for the NAF championship last year. They're converted from the old (2ed?) zombies and, IMO, look amazing:

Willy's mummies (nº 2&4)
Franarcilla Flesh Golem1
Franarcilla Flesh Golem2
Gaspez's Ulf1 as werewolf
Gaspez's Ulf2 as werewolf
Warmachine Bane Thralls as Wights (weapons removed)
Willy's Ghouls

And, by now, I'm using West Wind Production Roadkill Rager as zombies, but they don't fit with the rest of the team...
