Drawing inspiration from existing models is understandable, but the danger of appearing too close to the original is that comparisons will be made. The 2nd edition elves are still regarded by many as some of the best BB models out there so a sculptor needs to bring their A game to go up against that range.

I do think there is plenty of scope for teams in the 2nd edition style. GW went far too much down the WHFB route with their 3rd edition models so some of the newer teams are crying out for a good sculpt that actually looks like Bloodbowl players.

I’m really bored of the cowboy orcs, ninja dwarfs, fireman elves teams etc that look like the players are going to a fancy dress stag themed night out.

Hi guys,

These Elves can be used as Pro Elves if you wish, but they should mainly be used as Wood Elves. That's why the Catchers are skinny (Strength 2), as theghr has correctly stated in a previous post.

For those who like these Meiko Elves... Durden is doing a cumulative order on this topic:

http://talkfantasyfootball.org/viewtopi ... =7&t=37608

The first 20 Wood Elf Teams ordered get for free the following items:

>> Meiko Treeman

>> Meiko Star Player Jordan Fresh Air

>> Meiko Wood Elf Catcher nº 4 (not included in the Team)

>> Deluxe Skill Marker (random color among the 4 available).

Amen brother! I was so fed up I decided to something about it myself! I commissioned these pics last year - and this probably needs its own post so I'll just put a couple here for now. I have mostly just posted on Ausbowl for feedback so far, and I've got some RL events that have it on hiatus a bit (new baby) but I"m committed to getting these guys into production, probably via Indiegogo.

I want what you want basically - a decent High/Pro elf team that isn't a rip off of an existing side or consisting of egregious titty figs. I'm a huge fan of Goodwin's work (I have the side painted) and part of what I think makes them so good - and 2nd ed in general is the sport parody theme trumped the fantasy theme. Maybe its a cultural thing - generally european sculptors not seeing a lot of NFL, maybe a lot of todays sculptors weren't around for 2nd ed, or maybe its just what sells - who knows, but it is my firm opinion that trying to sculpt an Elf team using "fantasy" as your primary inspiration leads to some predictable themes, tired ones at that. And thats what I want to change.

Now those I like.
Hope putting them up here doesn't mean they get ripped off though.

Well... that's just two of them. If you're a sculptor - and you're planning on ripping these off - please contact me :) and we'll work something out, heh.

Excellent Pro-Elves, Fassbinder75!!! I really like how they look. :D

Regarding the Meiko Wood Elves, it has been said on this topic that they do not show their position on the field. I disagree, since from my point of view it's pretty easy to see if each miniature is a Lineman, a Catcher or a Thrower. Here you have some examples:

First off... Those are awesome pics. That is exactly the elf team I want! Cool football elves! I would love to get this team once it gets made! :orc:

I'm not crazy about the existing GW team (too "warhammer units that took a wrong turn and ended up missing the war but ended up on the pitch" for me) , and I don't go for teams that look like it should be stored under the mattress rather than in a case (working with anti human trafficking organizations takes all of the humor out of that style of team for me)...

I'm looking forward to seeing any more you might post!

I figure there's a fair amount of latent demand for the right Elf team, thanks for the interest. I'm hoping to get the project sculpting underway in April, I've had one false start already so I'm reluctant to commit to anything. I'll put a dedicated thread up when that is confirmed.

I really like those designs as well, they look like athletes but with an elven aesthetic.

Of course the difficulty that scuppers many a great projects is transferring awesome concept sketches into models that actually do them justice.

But it is a little rude to hijack this, so it probably would be better to continue the discussion in a thread just for them. Would probably get more attention too.

agree - start a new thread so I can post there that these sketches are great (though I would prefer to cut down on the gem-stones a little)

Thanks, spubbbba.

I seize the opportunity to say that the Meiko Elves are 28 mm Heroic Scale. Little bit taller than the 28 mm 2nd Edition GW Elves. That way, if you're playing against Gaspez Norses (just an example) these Elves are not shorther than the Norses. After all, Elves are not supposed to be shorter than Norses, right? :D

Here you have some more Elves:
