My Slann Thrower (conversion/mod)
Hey there! I just thought I'd show off my latest creation.
My Slann team has a player who's rolled two doubles and got an AG increase to boot - so I've made him into what's turned out to be a great thrower. I was poking through my giant pile of Heroclix minis and found what I figured would be a great starting point for a conversion for him - I'm confident in my sculpting skills, but I wanted to save myself as much work as possible.
Here's what I started with:

Re: My Slann Thrower (conversion/mod)
Here's what I ended up with when all was said and done:
Using green stuff, I re-sculpted the hands, feet, most of the right arm, and the head - the body and legs already had a great pose, sculpt, and proportions I was happy with (athletic, but sleek and agile-looking rather than bulky). One added benefit of using the green stuff was that it made painting the finished product somewhat simpler than a flesh-tone mini - he was already green underneath, eliminating some of the need for multiple coats of paint.
I carved out a slot in the bottom of the right foot, and drilled a short hole into the lower leg - this allowed me to place a length of paper clip inside the leg and foot, leaving a decent coil of it to be attached to the base for strength and stability. Over top of that coil, I layered on a mound of green stuff (which was then painted and flocked).

And one more photo from the back:
Painting his name on the jersey was tough. If there had been one more letter in his name, it wouldn't have fit!

Thanks! It was a surprisingly time-consuming task - I'm very finicky (hence my desire to start with a great base sculpt).duttydave wrote:Amazing conversion work, nicely done.

As a somewhat amusing sidenote: My girlfriend was a little puzzled when I exclaimed "There can be only one!" and started quietly singing Queen's "Princes of the Universe" as I was cutting off Aquaman's head...

Love it! What did you take for the doubles? Assume Acc/StrArm for 2+ long passes?

Re: My Slann Thrower (conversion/mod)
Pass and Hail Mary Pass. Couple that with 4 catchers (2 with AG increases as well) deep in the enemy's half of the pitch, and you have an instant recipe for 2-turn touchdowns (or 1-turn with the right kickoff result)!Shteve0 wrote:Love it! Because who really gives a $#!+ about Aquaman. That giant piece of female anatomy.
Fantastic work though. Well done.

Re: My Slann Thrower (conversion/mod)
My biggest fear at this point. He has survived two games since I made this mini - the fact that I tend to field him primarily when receiving and that my catchers are the ones scoring the most touchdowns (and getting the most attention) has kept him safe thus far, but he'd be hard to replace with those awesome skill rolls...Heff wrote:Awesome job

Very Nicely done conversion. When I first saw the model you selected I was skeptical but you most certainly pulled it off.
