What do you use to ship minis across the pond? I am in the 'fling exchange and I have no idea what to ship him in. Will bubble wrap in a bubble wrap envelope be enough? The last fig I sent in a plastic dice like this with padding, but I don't seem to have another laying around.

As long as it's immobile in sufficient wrapping it will make the journey fine. I'd suggest bubble wrapping it then taping it to a solid bit of card, or even wrapping card around the bubble wrapped mini. Put that in a padded envelope and it'll survive anything!

Poster tube and bubblewrap. And a bit of 'fragile' tape.

Poster tube is good because it doesn't crush like a box can, and rolls away from harm. Touch wood as I type it, but never had any issues yet.

Single miniatures are tricky as often once you pass a certain size of package then the cost shoots up.

When I’m sending teams I individually wrap each model in toilet paper then wrap 4 or 5 of those together in bubble wrap in a line to make several “bars”. I buy quite a bit of stuff online and both GW and online stores sent me models in cardboard boxes that are ideal for teams. If it’s too big you can easily chop bits off and tape it back together and if too small combine a couple to make it larger.

I’ll use more bubble wrap or tissue paper to pad this out and make sure the bars won’t move about. After that I’ll wrap it with duct tape around the edges, this adds an extra layer of protection and ensure nothing can rattle about.

For a single model as a box you can either make something out of cardboard or use a tube from kitchen and toilet roll.

Should add, poster tube can be cut down to a sensible length with a saw.

The little pre-digital-era film tubes are ideal for this kind of stuff.

Some professional/artsy photographer might still have them.
