That Krox looks awesome, however how many squares will his tail take up? Could get crowded....just a thought!

Made some progress on the krox. Its now standing and has the tail attached.
I filed back the tyranid spine to make it more lizardy.
I'm going to put some plastic arms on instead of the metal broodlord arms.
I still have to sculpt some scales on the back and bulk out the tail with greenstuff.

Looks like the tail wont take up too much space. Its on a 30mm base. I'm not worried about the overhang on the front of the base, it's taller than most players.

I also got started on some tokens for re-rolls and the like.

The next job is to hit it up with greenstuff.

I used the Broodlord as a Krox once before, but kept the original stance. Sold it since though :P

Looking good though

That lord of change - thought about using him as the base for doing a rat ogre? May have some bitz you can harvest.

Re: Lizardmen Plog ~ Painting Sidetrack

Post by lithophile »

The new season kicks off on Monday and I have painting to do.
I had a dark elf team lined up but I changed it to vamps last minute. In a scramble I found some old ogres to use as my vamps to go with the former dark elves taking to the pitch as thralls.

Here is the teaser, more as work goes on.

The slap dash tiny logo

And finally, the fluff
"The half naked vampiric ogres of the OrcaCola Guzzlers have been traveling on the Blood Bowl circuit for hundreds of years. Formerly known as the Blood Giants, they re-branded after securing sponsorship from OrcaCola to play in the Autumn 2513 NZCBBL.

The Vampires have no interest in drinking OrcaCola at all. Some fans think they hypno-gazed their way into the sponsorship deal. Others believe they are OrcaCola's vigilante goon squad, playing Blood Bowl as a cover while smashing up stalls that refuse to sell the beverage. Either way, they plan to fight their way to the top of league and take home the trophy, and they don't care whose blood they have to drink to do it."

But wait! There is some lizard related content.
Image

I made these stamps with the left over greenstuff when I filled the broodloards carapace torso.
This was the first time I tried it and some worked out better than others.

Lizardmen Plog ~ Painting Sidetrack

Looking good! I like the hair standardised, you're making sweet progress there. And that lizard standard top thing is cool too - how do you plan to apply it?

Hope you have more fun and better results with the yellow than I did :)

The wip Thralls and Vamps are very close to being based. 75% of the way to being tabletop ready. The paint is caked onto the ogres but the yellow wasn't too taxing.

Image

Image

My starting roster has 3 Vamps so I messed about with some blood on this half painted Ogre.

Image

Some of the thralls need a purple wash and details need picking out but all the main colour work is finished.

Painting Sidetrack Complete.

The OrcaCola Guzzlers are more or less done.
My teams of vampiric ogres and their dark elf thralls have started the season reasonably. I've had 2-1 loss to lizards and a 1-1 draw against Shteve0's chaos pact.

Image

The ogre on the left will be joining the team soon. I used a yellow glaze over the cream as opposed to caking on yellow paint like I did with the other ogres. It needs more work.

Image

Suffice to say I'm sick of painting yellow now.

EDIT: MOAR PROGRESS

I managed to get some spot colour on too!
Looks much better
