Re: Impact! announces $35 plastic team sets
Tom great job on these.
What are the next teams to be given the $35 treatment? What sort of timeline are you looking at for all of the teams to be released? Has there been any progress with the other aftermarket Blood Bowl modelers to add their minis to this $35 line?

Next 3 scheduled are Apes of Wrath, Gnome and NecromonicomDixonCider wrote:Tom great job on these.

I hope to have the Apes out by end of next week ... but our Chibi KickStarter is really burning up the available work time with our caster. The next team after the Apes is probably looking at a release date around the middle to late April. What sort of timeline are you looking at for all of the teams to be released?
Yes and no. We have had one success in this area but with a very small mini maker. Nothing worked out with any of the larger players in this space.Has there been any progress with the other aftermarket Blood Bowl modelers to add their minis to this $35 line?

SO no convoluted pledging sytem where we can pledge cash for teams to be made first?
I would cheerfully pre-pay for some of the teams I'd like if I knew they would be next...

I'm ready to go with an order - how are we looking on the Apes for this week? Very excited!

Re: Impact! announces $35 plastic team sets
I am beating my caster regularly on getting these done. He emailed me last night to say they are fine tuning the mould right now for the Gorilla armour and then it should be finished.Shteve0 wrote:*Bump!*

So right now ... let's set the meter at March 27th for them to be the in store.
I apologize ... the caster and I use different terminology. When he says the mould is finished. He means he has created an unvented mould with the impressions for the figures (which is a long way from finished). I did not realize this and so I assumed since all 4 moulds were "finished" and I had been billed for them ... I'd have figures very quickly. Now I know ... and knowing if half the battle (insert trademarked license here).
So apologies that I thought these would be done faster than I thought they would be. He swears the Apes are one of his main focuses to get the 4 moulds to be fully vented and useable (which is my definition of finished) as soon as he can.
So I'll go with March 27th and try to update you if I find out differently.

Gah! You're killing me with this!
Okay, so 27th it is. Just, please don't let anything in my shopping cart run out before the apes launch

Trust me ... I'm normally very patient but I'm really really hoping to see these soon as I know they'll be great to get in the store as Patrick Keith did an awesome job on the sculpts but the price of the pewter was always a barrier to entry.Shteve0 wrote:Gah! You're killing me with this!

I know, mate, just busting your balls
The main frustration for me is that my pact troll and skaven are bundled up in the order, and I'm playing pact in our league right now - purely down to my personal decision to change teams at the very last minute and totally irrelevent to the world at large

Re: Impact! announces $35 plastic team sets
My caster's spincaster broke and his 2 employees who cast for him decided to ditch work for a couple days without telling him over the last week. Trust me Shteve0 ... I'm itchy to have them as well. The caster has apologized but he does not think he'll have them now shipping to me until the first week of April. Trust me when I say ... "I feel your pain".Shteve0 wrote:My "Pay Now" finger is getting itchyGalakStarscraper wrote:So I'll go with March 27th and try to update you if I find out differently.

Re: Impact! announces $35 plastic team sets
Didn't saw this, noticed just now. since it seems that one Impact representative posts here, I would like to leave some feedback about the "plastic" teams here, as I ordered and already received and assembled some crocodiles.
Bad news first: I'm somewhat disappointed by the "pastic", in fact it feels more like resin. I would had expected something similar to Privateer Press or Mantic "restic", and one of the reasons (if not the main one) for I purchased these minis was getting more 'solid' miniatures, as plastic is usually less inclined to breaking and chipping than lead. But while assembling them became clear that the material is no way elastic as PP or Mantic's one, in fact it's quite brittle. The durability point is a strong one to me, especially for games like BB where minis are knocked down all the time.
Good points: minis look awesome, are fast to assemble and easy to convert. Also, while the resin feels not so sturdy (compared to plastic or others' restic) it's still very lightweight, so chipping should be avoided anyway. Tbh, even if I would had preferred a more elastic and sturdy material I'm overall pleased with the minis, they're GREAT value for the money.
Anyway, I would suggest to Impact to try some more elastic resins for the future, if possible.
I also want to be clear that I'm not complaining, just trying to provide sincere feedback/opinion.

Re: Impact! announces $35 plastic team sets
I understand your concern ... however I'm not exactly sure but it seems based in theory (ie I don't think you actually had a figure break on you ... but I could be wrong).Gabbi wrote:Anyway, I would suggest to Impact to try some more elastic resins for the future, if possible.

I've repeatedly spiked figures into a table at a convention done in this material with no breakage to show them to customers ... so I'm not sure I agree with you that its brittle. We had another reviewer on this thread try spiking the figures as well with no breakage.
So I just wanted to reply as you posted that you thought it would be brittle ... I and another reviewer so far have not seen that be the case. I personally would have no issues playing BB with these figures (if I did we would not be switching over to it) and I would not worry at all about my figures breaking with normal BB handling.
In fact, the developer of the plastic resin has a video showing its general flexibility / material strength: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H-O0vDaKPA
