Concepts looked much cooler. Much more gribbly. I feel these are too simplistic. Sculpting also look a bit crude. Painting doesn't help either.
But apart from the Judwan that I think could have been a lot more dynamic, this is the first team I don't like.

It’s a bit hard to tell from the pic and could be the paint job but I agree about it not being a great sculpt.

That looks more like the quality of one of the cheap plastic figures you’d get in old board games like HeroQuest. It’s a bit of a shame as the Dreadball models had been a big improvement on Mantic’s earlier stuff.

The season 2 teams look to be their own creations and would be a great way to test their future sci-fi forces.

I must say... the cheerleaders look excellent, to the extent that I'd be tempted to convert them up as 'zons. Just a shame I didn't order a set...

The Skaven coach is an even more blatant rip-off than the Prof X one.

Want one for my Skaven team.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I actually am wondering if that's supposed to be Patches O'Houlihan from Dodgeball.

He is supposed to be patches (the coaches specialise in offence and defence etc - no doubt dodging spanners comes in there somewhere). I think it is telling who likes comics (thought prof as only bloke in wheelchair, or is it floating wheelchair? they know) and who likes trashy movies... Though when the concept was published I did think Davros looked funny until I recalibrated by humour settings.

Oh and my cheerleaders are getting advertising printed onto OHP transparencies cut in dresses, halos, etc. Holographic advertising here we come.

Any news about the alternative sculpts? Photos? Or at least how many new poses per race? Currently it seems everyone gets 3 poses.

And what about boxes having 10 players? Was that a packaging error (read it somewhere) or will it be so from now on? Parts wise, it would mean cut or spare parts if down to 8 (base sprues are 10 each, and FF team would had 3 spare hands if they ship the current sprues and poses, eg).

Dreadball Miniature Sculpts - Collated List

Post by Shteve0 »

Wow, lots of questions.

Basically, I was told (by a senior bod at mantic) that they (mantic) were running tight to deadlines so had to send sculpts off to prod before they'd taken decent shots, hence the lack of greens on show... Though it's quite possible that the reaction to the judwan sculpt over xmas had a big part to play in that.

As such, they're staying quite light on previews, and everything I've seen is reposted in this here thread. There are a good number of stretches still to come; but yeah, while new poses for Corp, Orx, V-M and FF are in that number, no news yet on when they'll see daylight. From the wording on the KS site, I'd expect 1 new sculpt per each of those teams, 2 at a push.

AFAIK, the robots are the only team to get 10 figs, due to their morphing ability.

Cryptically - I was told there were "8 sculpts for the Judwan alone". We've seen 8 models in a box with 3 poses, and 1 star... I'm assuming bad use of the word "sculpts", but there may yet be a twist in the tail.

The box I have has 10 per side, due I think to the sprues, they have 2 sets of arms for strikers and jacks per moulding. So I guess easier to ship 10 then have someone take off one set from each sprue?
