I love Blood Bowl, I love Star Wars, how could I resist? I love unusual themes for teams.
So I'm backing this.
Congrats on a great idea.
Some suggestions that struck me initially:
Add-Ons
Allow for some additional 'add-ons' beyond the pledge reward.
Many crowdfunding projects do this: You pledge a level, it comes with a reward, but you can increase the pledge to cover additional items offered.
You have this in place for the Darth model, and others as stretch goals, but you'd increase the money raised and backer's happiness both if you offered extra players as basic add ons.
The Razor team is a good example: it covers a minimum starting team: 6 ogres, 5 snotlings, but most people playing an Ogre team will want extra snotlings because they can't always start with all 6 ogres or want a bench of cheap snotling extras for when the others get hurt.
The 'fling team comes with 2 treemen types, but any 'fling player is going to want 3. probably a few more halflings too.
Some people may see the teams listed with just the minimum number of miniatures and not back it, thinking that unless they can have a flexible team there isn't a point to ordering it.
So it'd be useful to be able to increase the pledge and add on more of the basic team miniatures without having to wait until the project is funded, in production, and ordering them separately.
The Field
I love it. But there is one problem I see. The long edge of the field on the other side of the dug-outs/turn track just ends at the edge of the board. It has a border all the way around until this 4th edge. It would be much nicer if there was a bit of border around the whole field, not bumping out into space/the table.
This is especially true because the themed teams all have big guys: larger bases that overhang the squares on the pitch- we're all used to dealing with that, but having large bases overhang the board edge itself it going to be awkward and diminish the look of the set. Just nudge the field toward the dug outs a bit to get a border on all sides.
Droids
It looks like you're planning for them in the silhouette of the secret weapons. Droids are going to be very popular.
An R2D2 style is a must, but it'd be nice to have some interchangeable parts to make different ones. I'm sure someone with higher geek creds than I have will know the name/number of this droid, but there was one that looked like a dark grey box with feet. So pointless it's perfect. maybe as a bomber, with a mortar mounted on his top.
Other Characters
You would sell shed loads of money if you make a Slave-Lea for a cheerleader.
Ahsoka would make a nice 'zara the slayer' option for the halfling team:
And a female gamorrean guard would make a fun 'Big Bertha'
Another 'Ogre Team' idea would be Wookies & Ewoks.
Admiral Akbar would make a nice referee miniature. "It's a Foul!"
