Laser Cut Scoreboard by Aetherworks

Post by Virral »

Eucalyptus Bowl and Aetherworks have teamed up this year to design a simple and easy laser cut scoreboard in 3mm MDF, and I am pretty happy with the end result!

We wanted something easy to assemble and easy to use without needing paint, but we also made sure that for the more creative amongst us it can be a blank canvas. It's one sided and fully reversable, so you could flip over the scoreboard and tokens and paint your own versions, stick on printed images, whatever takes your fancy basically!

This is the "Eucalyptus Bowl 2013" version, and includes the Euc Bowl shield and 2013 in roman numerals. Aetherworks will also develop a more generic version for sale from their webstore, and I believe there may also be scope for custom versions for events and individuals (but you'll need to get in touch with Aetherworks to discuss options on that front). They also have plans for a deluxe version that would include FAME tracker, weather tokens and maybe even a scatter template.

The RRP for these will be $15 AUD. If you like what you see and want to get one of your own, head over to the Aetherworks website and use the Contact button to get in touch with the designers to register your interest. As soon as the webstore version is available I'll let everyone know!

That is seriously cool!
Congrats!
:D

Hope those vertical stands are sturdy enough for holding the score board and the all game action (hanging new score plates and all).

I've got mine and I think they'll stand the test of time. If you're concerned, I'd recommend gluing them to the scoreboard which will add additional support.

I guess it's like gluing a miniature together. It holds under standard use, but if you make a concerted effort to break the join, drop it etc, it's still going to break.

Here is the Euc Bowl scoreboard, which will be available as prizes on the day. Andrew tells me he is going to offer this version in the online store for a few weeks, and then they'll take it down and replace it with some more generic versions (Orc, Humans etc).

I'll let you all know as soon as it goes live on their store.

As mentioned earlier it looks great, and if you say they're 'tough enough' I believe you! :)

Now it just need some proper painting!
(...and possibly a few more scoreboards up to "6")

Click here if you'd like to buy one of these lovely scoreboards for just $14.95 plus postage (note that if you are just buying the scoreboard they will send it as a letter even for internationals and will refund some of the postage costs charged by the webstore).

In all seriousness, if Sann or anyone else was willing to coordinate a group order for a NAF scoreboard, I bet that would be entirely possible.

Just checked Currency Converter $15 AUD is $13.80 USD. Should be able to ship flat, maybe padded envelope, so shipping should not be too high.

I am thinking I will add my NAF # to the board (somewhere to be determined after I've got a good look at in my hands). It breaks down flat for transportation. Glue would make it more solid, but harder to transport without breaking it, maybe I could compromise and add/use neo dot magnets to make it solid during use. The more I think about this the more I like it.

EDIT: 16 magnets should do it, 4 in the base, 4 in the back of the scoreboard, and 4 in each of the uprights to match. The more I look at the pictures I think NAF name and number across the bottom.

I have some Impact weather goblins, and I think they would look nice on 20 mm bases just below the scoreboard to keep track of weather.

Yes, I will be quiet for awhile and stop thinking out loud.

Ooh, magnets are a good idea. Could even drop the hooks for the numbers and just use magnets instead... I feel a project coming on. :)

Got a pic of the finished scoreboard? Is the design printed on or stamped into the wood?
