Skill ring options

Post by sann0638 »

Hi folks,
I have pics of the Impact skill rings and rubber bands, does anyone have pics of other things that people have used as skill rings, magnets on bases, bases with bits written on, that sort of thing?

Cheers,
Mike

For tournaments I write the skill on the base edge. Not sure how many pictures I have from tournaments like this, and I repaint the base edge after. But it's like this:

Impact! rubber bases rings ... you can write on them with ball point pen and erase them with just your thumb at the end of the game.

Sorry for the delay but I used similar bases to these at Thrud Bowl this year. They were only intended for single skilled players so stacking worked, but the writing was obscured. When I make the next lot, this will taken into account.

And I might even get some of the lettering in a straight line :p

No need for extra magnets (1.5mm fit best for me) below the skill rings are they were strong enough to hold the additional base below anyway.

i also use the liped bases with the skill fully written, but instead of magnets, i use bluetack so i don't have to work more on the miniature.

I recently backed the Alea Tools Magnetic Markers Kickstarter. So I'm going to try those out as skill rings. I'm guessing they will work similar to Itchen's home-made setup, but without the hassle of sticking magnets to bases, etc. I can just write directly on the side of the markers and I'm done.

Here's a link to their website - http://www.aleatools.com/

Itchen, do I infer correctly that you color-code the skills based on category (yellow for G, blue for A, etc.)? I'm a big fan of this idea.

Siggy you are entirely wrong! :p

I bought 3 colours intending to use one for each of my teams, but as it turns out I've placed the magnets in the same position on all models so they can swap and choose.

Your idea sounds good though!
