Noob attempt at team painting

Well, I have a few touch up bits to do but pretty happy with how it's turning out.
First proper attempt at shading, highlighting and basing, these have static grass on but didn't want to go mental.
Treeman is Willy Minuatures one which I didn't realise came with detached arms so had to google how to pin the arms on and get a few supplies but think it looks pretty good!
Not a great pic, but I took 20 and this was the only decent one I got out of it photography really not my thing but gives you an idea how I'm doing. Any advice gratefully recieved

Nice coherent looking team! If they're your first go with advanced painting techniques, then its a great result. I like the blonde elves best - the contrast with the darker strip makes them stand out. Nice work!

Nice Especially good for a first team. much better than a lot of teams I've played against actually, I wish everyone put in the effort you're showing here.

Photoing minis is a whole skill set in itself. Lots of tutorials out there, but two helpful things if you're finding it troublesome, if you haven't figured this out already that is, 1. find your camera's adjustment for light source (fluorescent, standard light bulb, daylight, etc) and set it to 'evaluate white balance' and click it so the camera will find the true balance for the light you have. 2. find the setting for macro and use that, it will help focus the minis. using a background with details, like the BB pitch can be troublesome though, if your camera uses auto focus then it may try to use details on the board for the focus field and you'll end up with fuzzy minis. just test the focus by a partial depression of the button, it'll show you what it's focusing on, and don't take the shot if it's grabbing the wrong things. background without details will avoid that altogether.

Cheers for comments, Didn't think about the pitch taking auto focus! Will try again with a plain backdrop and see how it goes, camera isn't a fantastic one so could be part of the problem. If I get better results I'll update for sure.

I did a lot of the slap paint on in the 80's and always wondered how the best results were obtained in magazines just never took time to try it out.

Nice team ! When I remember my first attempts at painting, this is even awesome. Playing with and against painted teams is so much more fun, and you not only have a painted one, but it is also based, which can make all the difference. Just one hint - player numbers on the base, front and back side !

As for taking pics, there are great tutorials in the web, so I won´t elaborate on the more special stuff. To start with, don´t take pics on the bloodbowl pitch when you want to present minis. Take a neutral (white or light blue) background. Daylight is better for pics than artificial lights. For me overcast sky works better than bright sunshine. Place your camera in a tripod (a book or two would also do) and use the self timer. Try taking pics with and without flashlight.

Never ask your kids what colour kits to paint is all I'll say! I said elf team, daughter said red and green so went with the dark version to bring it a bit more evil hopefully...
Am getting the numbers on there soon, have some touch up bits to do and varnish as well.
