Re: GW Fantasy Skaven ?
Theoretically, but a lot of the current range have cast-on shields, making left arms very limited and kitbashing quite hard.
Stormvermin and plague monks should both work well, and an all plague monk Pestilens team could look awesome.

Re: GW Fantasy Skaven ?
I made a skaven team some time ago. A lot of crypt ghoul bodies were used but also some skaven bodies for the gutterrunners. Arms were hard, the skaven arms all have shields so I used the crypt ghoul arms.

Re: GW Fantasy Skaven ?
I'm actually undertaking the same type of project as Lard with the primary difference for me being that I'm using stormvermin bodies as bases for my blitzers. But I feel that crypt ghoul bodies and arms lend themselves very well to the lithe, agile, creepy look that skaven should have as opposed to the hobbits with rat heads vibe they typically have thanks to GW miniatures lol.
That being said, I do have a skaven team made from the older multipart clanrats that I'm sourcing for heads & tails (the few that still have them that is) & I'm using the bodies, arms, legs with weapons removed and given knuckle dusters etc with the crypt ghoul heads as my underworld goblins which works quite nicely. They're a touch Tolkien-esque as opposed to the more comical GW styling which I feel fits the concept of warpstone addicted mutant gobbos quite well for my tastes. Plus, the older skaven heads are quite a bit smaller than the newer ones so they scale better with the slimmer limbs and smaller hands and feet of the crypt ghouls.
I am attempting to emulate (the feel and general look but not duplicate) this pic:

Re: GW Fantasy Skaven ?
I bought a box of plague rats and converted a team from that:

The yellow bases are my gutter runners, red are the storm vermin, white for the thrower and black for linerats.
The back row are the staff left to right, cheerleader, Apo and coach.

That is a really good idea. I think that would work really well for the gutters.Red_Starrise wrote:I'm actually undertaking the same type of project as Lard with the primary difference for me being that I'm using stormvermin bodies as bases for my blitzers. The trouble with the old skaven and gutter nightrunners is that they are too bulky with big monkey hands. It kind of works if the whole team is like that but the new stormvermin are much sleeker. The new clanrats have some good heads but are all in a very similar position.
I was considering using the vermin as most of the team, giving extra shoulder pads and heads to the blitzers, using clanrat heads for the linos and the pointing arm for the thrower. Gutters were the main difficulty, but crypt ghouls with head swaps, tails and maybe cloaks would be ideal for them. With the island of blood rat ogre.
Below is a pic of a test blitzer and thrower i made.

I really like the pointing posed skaven spubbba!
I did make an all pestilence themed team several years ago:

And made some skavn for an underworld team using the new plastic clan rats, not from the island of blood, so I think the shield issue was less of a problem, but they aren't finished so no photos to link to.. someday I'll finish that team

@Pitch Invader
nice one ! As far as I can see these are all plague monks from the current range, with additional cloaks (wood elves ?) for gutter runners and heads with armour for blitzers (are they from the box, too ?).
I´d be very interested in pictures of your clan rat conversions, even if they aren´t finished yet !

Thanks Hegel
The runners' cloaks came from the mordheim/night runner kit and the blitzer armor heads, if I remember right, came from the rat ogre handlers, same box set as the rat ogre.
re: the clanrat conversions, I found I had posted some wip shots of them, long time back on the blog:

Blitzer
simple Stormvermins with Black Skin

Re: GW Fantasy Skaven ?
I used the Plague Monk for Lino's, Strormvermin for Blitzes and Night Runners for my Runners, Throwers and Star players. Concept works well.

GW Fantasy Skaven ?
I'm using IOB lords as blitzers (though just splashed out on a queek as a third blitzer) and an IOB rat ogre; stormvermin as linemen and throwers; and a combination of crypt ghoul and plague monk head as gutter runners.
