Base to base pass?

Post by Red Orc »

Is it perfectly okay to choose to do a quick pass from on player to the next when they are right next to each other?
I realize this is a hand off, but hand offs don't give you that 1 precious SPP.
In our league this is called a "cheesepletion", and some coaches call foul on it. I choose to do it because on the occasion that you DO fumble the ball you have your two guys next to each other.
So I guess what I'm asking is are you FORCED to hand off the ball instead of choosing the slightly more risky (1 extra roll) route for that SPP?

You can pass to an adjacent player, it's perfectly legal. Look further down in the Forum section, there is already a thread about this.

yep, if you're willing to risk an extra roll for an spp, and you don't have another "real" pass you need to do that turn, go for it. :)

Cheesepletion. I like that. Cheesepletions are legal. Nowhere in the rules is a minimum distance for passing mentioned.

Yup, any team can go for that "free" SPP, but of course the pansy elves have an easier time of it.

Yes.

It's NOT a handoff, its a pass. a handoff only requires a Catch roll. A Pass requires an accurate Pass and a Catch roll to get SPP's.

Tell them to stop moaning and to get a STR 5 guy with Pile On. They will get 2-4 casualty SPP's a game versus the 1-2 "Cheesepletions" the elves will get.

Not always safe, especially if you are playing a fast team that can swarm the ball in tackle zones. There is a decent risk to trying to get a "Cheesepletion"

No.
