3d printed block dice

Post by snakees »

I've seen this 3d printed dice on shapeways :

Image

Does anyone buy one ? Can you post here a picture ?

I think the dice will be unbalanced but it can make a great reroll marker.

Another pic of 3D printed BB dice. The ones I got we're blue plastic. The results were sub standard in my opinion. But they are available in metal. The dice are really light; I would not roll them due to fears they will break.

shapeways suck. i've bought parts in different grades from them, and none are worth it.
3d printing is still quite a ways away(at least from shapeways) :(

These are done on a cheap ass printer. Nice idea, but low quality.
The metal ones won't be better because they aren't metal, rather they are metal effect medium. Printer is still cheap consumer grade.

Come back next year and the quality will be better. But from someone who isn't Shapeways.

That's a shame. I saw these on BBTactics, and although I'd not want to use them as actualdice, I'd though about getting a set for counters etc.
Bit the quality puts me off. :(

Do the mouth and eyes open if you use a pin to clean them? They look closed in what you got, but open in the shop pictures.

Warning: it can copulate up the tinting too, so don't try if you don't want to run the risk of white scratches.

I think the 1st picture makes them look a lot better than they actually turned out in real life. Maybe they would be better in metal?

First picture is a computer render... the dice page only has computer renders.

The cost for one metal die was in the $60 range. So from the quality of the blue plastic ones I got I don't think it would be worth it. There is only a picture of the render on the page with no pictures of actual 3D printed dice.

On opening up the eyes and mouth I decided to leave them as is so I don't mess them up.
