Galadrieth Gladiators: High Elves

Post by Akka »

Hi again, TFF! Teams are fun, so here's another one!
I recently took these out again to fix the paint job a little and realised I never took pictures of them before. They were done last spring for a tournament.
The reasoning behind this converted plastic team was that there were so many elf teams being released but they were all wood elves and pro elves. Sure, you could use them for High elves, but High elves already have a clear style for me. So I just looked through so many models, searching for usable parts. Finally I found the High Elf Chariot crew and bought a couple (more like eight) of pairs from a bitz store. Heads and arms were a bit harder though.
Now that GW released a new wave of High elf kits, I'm going to replace my catchers, but I thought I'd show what the team looked like because I spent a lot of time building them.

Colours-wise I wanted classic high elves and decided to pay homage to the real deal: Galadrieth Gladiators! And for extra fun I tried NMM for their shining armour. Some parts turned out really well, others could still use more work, but all in all I'm very proud of them!

If anyone else made a similiar team, I'd like to see it! High elves could use some love. I see Dark Elves will have an upswing soon, with great new models coming from different companies.

very cool team, positional are easy to spot and good technic.
the only thing that i doon't like is the base, this green and this grass does not fit the rest. But other than that veryx good job.

+1

A black base border will be better or perhaps a base the same color as the helmet. The grass is ok for me. I prefer the GW standard base for blood bowl in general.

Excellent painting job especialy the light effect on helmet and armour

These are great! I've toyed with the idea of doing a GW plastic conversion team. My only suggestion would be to make the positionals more like their official GW counterparts. Catchers more like Lion Warriors, Dragon Princes for Blitzers and Phoenix Lords for Thrower.

Again, nice work, I love 'em.

I hate the GW high elf models, but your painting is excellent. The blue NMM has come up well in most areas. Great work.
