Sculpting a new new Squig/ball trophy

Post by Videador »

His guyz!
Here is one of many trophies that I am sculpting. The idea is to make a pack of different trophies (+TDs, +Casualties,…).
On this one, a skeleton hand with a ball and a glove. It has 2 metal plates where you can paint the tournament’s name and on the other the award (+TDs, + Casualties,..) .
It is only a WIP. I want to put spikes on the ball; more detail on the glove and of course a nice base.

What do you think? more ideas for trophies?

The sculpting looks great, but the football is a little small.

Looks good.

I like the idea of a hand (not skeletal) holding aloft a helmet by the facemask.

Like this, but with more "blood bowl" (spikes etc).

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Great idea!
I think an ork hand and the helmet as you said with spikes and a metal jaw could work

Yeah ;p , The problem is the weight... A properly size ball will be to big and heavy :(

Very nice.

If a bigger football proves to be too heavy then put it on a wider base, maybe ?

Superb....!!

I always wanted to see the NAF provide a "best painted" trophy like they do a "tournament champion" as it encourages people to improve and makes a better visual spectacle for all.

Perhaps you could do one (hand holding a paintbrush?) and sell it to them?? (hopefully Beppe will be receptive to the idea)

The arm is awesome but You should perhaps consider removing the ball or make it bigger.

to compare :

I have no notion in sculpting, I imagine that the ball is crucial to make it stands right.

You will see on the new photo the size of the big trophy. To keep the balance and a regular total weight I can´t do a bigger ball :(
On the other hand I will make a similar one smaller. On that one I will be able to make a realistic ball-hand size.

I am thinking on more details.
I didn´t sculpt anything on the back of the base. The idea is to put the sponsors of the tournament/league there. Is a very good chance to get more sponsoring if you a put the logo of the company on a physical space.
This base will be able for future trophies too.
