Niggled Dwarf hits lvl6
I had a chaos dwarf blocker hit lvl6...unfortunately he also just got himself a niggle.
CD Blocker: MB, Guard, Daunt, SF
http://bbm.jcmag.fr/BloodBowlManager.We ... lang=en-US
There aren't many great skills left considering he has never rolled stats/doubles...and with the niggle he'll be slightly less effective. I've got three games left until the playoffs and I think I am guaranteed a spot in them at this point.
So, the skills I could see that make sense
Grab: Why not?
Pro: When you can't think of anything else to take...
Kick: I have to put it somewhere...
BT: ag3? meh...
PO: Already have one and you don't want to take too many
Thoughts?

I think, I'd go with Grab. Shame he didn't get a double along the way.

Grab is good,... if you position right, you can grab an opponent(* and block him more than once.

Sack him after the playoffs, so Kick for short term gaim in a knockout format.

I like the argument for grab. It would be a useful tool for the LOS and stack well with SF. However, I also like the idea of kick if you're going to be retiring him after the season. Especially if you don't have it on anyone else.

Re: Niggled Dwarf hits lvl6
I am probably not going to be retiring this player at the end of the season.
While I hate getting a niggle, with av9+TS, lvl6, and the fact I have three other dwarves to put on the line I don't see the cost outweighing the benefit of keeping him.
Basically, it took almost 4 seasons to get this dwarf to lvl6 I don't want to wait another 4 seasons for another one.
The two claw dwarves won't go on the D line, so if one of the other three dwarves rolls doubles or a strength up that might change my view here as I don't want to put a niggled dwarf on the D line.

Grab, Pro, or PO. Grab is fun, but he'll die. Pro killz menz, but he'll die. PO killz menz and keeps him from getting blocked back. PO, only use when you want to be prone, or when the drive is over (T8, when you're gonna score, or right before your opponent starts T8 in scoring range).

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Re: Niggled Dwarf hits lvl6
He's 170k of TV and costing you 100k (above replacement) a game. Given you don't want him on the line, how much utility is he really offering you for that 100k? Especially since he's now easier to injure. I'd fire him, but I'm completely unsentimental.

Re: Niggled Dwarf hits lvl6
For 100k I'm getting Guard, MB, SF, Dauntless, and Grab, Kick or some such.
He is more likely to be injured, but with av9 and TS, it could be far worse. Also, this means that my opponents will have more targets of choice outside of just the two claw guys and the Mino.
If I replace him I would expect it would take at least half a season to get him guard (rookie dwarves skill slowly). That would hurt with the playoffs coming up.

In my experience, a Niggle on a player with Thick Skull is acceptable. Of course it's not nice to carry cripples on any roster, but this is one that I can tolerate.
All the best.

Not that I think you'll fire him, but...
Dwarf Blockers are pretty good out of the gate. Assuming you fired your L6 Blocker (lets call him 'Smokey') you're instantly taking 100k off your TV. In the playoffs that could easily be the difference between giving away a Wizard, or better - getting one yourself.
I've no idea what your league is made up of but I'm guessing your team is 2100+ TV. If its a bash heavy league, chances are MB/Claw could make him an on field liability, if its a lighter weight league you could be giving away considerable inducements to ~1900 Elf, Skaven or Necro side.
I'm also assuming he's 1/6 out of your Blockers. Its like pruning a tree, once you clear the old wood new life gets to grow - your 2nd & 3rd Blockers will take his place and the new guy will do time on the LoS. He will get plenty of opportunities, and its only 6SPP's until he gets a roll.
A Dwarf blocker at 16SPP with Guard and MB is about 90% as effective as Smokey, and one out of the box is probably 75% and is less liable to be injured. I don't think the 'hurt' will be as bad as you suspect

It's worth remembering that a Niggled Thick Skull player got the same chance to leave the pitch (ko or cas) as a normal player (say, an Orc).

Not that I'm thrashing dead horses, but this is not quite true. They'll be injured on a 9 as opposed to being KO'ed like a normal player.MKL wrote:I agree.Smeborg wrote:In my experience, a Niggle on a player with Thick Skull is acceptable.
