As promised.. Greebo Volmarians!

Hi! As I promised in my previous topic I'm posting another team painted on commission. Well I've painted this team 3 (or 4) times, one for Greebo, posted on his site and the others for some Greebo's clients. In fact the colour scheme is standard, but I choose this particular team because he has the better pics ( I'm not so good with photos!) and because I think that posting several times the same team is not so fair. Hope you like them! For questions and critics feel free to write here or via pm!

Well, I've only painted the marauders and are almost the same, a slighter bigger, if you compare to the last ones, almost the same...

i guess you will have plenty of people to tell you that it is wonderfull and well executed and i-wish-i-could-do-it-like-you-are-a-painting-god etc..
So I will go for the one critic:
this color scheme, violet + red is not pretty at all. Any basic color theory article found on the web will agree on this.

i think you should remove this violet and put some desaturate green or dark blue.

Anyway, look at the models -they're not "pretty", so why should their colour scheme be?

I'd argue that in this case colour theory is wrong then. Everyone who has seen these "in the flesh" has had nothing but positive things to say.

i would argue that most of the bloodbowl coaches don't have the artistic sensibility developped enough to be good at judging color harmony.

Wow a lot of replies! For the colour scheme it was the choice of the client, Greebo and all the other buyers had choose the same. I don't know why it shouldn't fit to the colour theory, but I'm curious about that scheme you proposed, maybe I will propose to the next client! But however, if I remind well the gw tutorials, on a miniature you should put two adiacent colours and one opposite to create harmony and contrast in the same time, isn't it?

I like the colour scheme. In fact, I would go so far as to say that, since it breaks with 'established colour theory', and yet looks great, it is in fact not mere painting, but avant-garde Art!

I must admit I find the colours a little distracting. The painting is superb, absolutely nothing to critique there.

I think the colour theory thing is that they are neither complementary nor close to one another on the colour wheel, making them a little bit strange together.

But hey, people like it so...
