So, you have to pick one team...

to win in a permanent league, where teams average say 1800-2100 TV normally...which race would you pick? Remember, this isn't one game, but a season of say 10 games.

I took out most of the teams that I don't think can win regularly at high TV...

Are you building with your league or going into a developed league?

I like High Elves if I'm building to high value against comparable opposition.* But against developed opposition with a rookie team I'd want Skaven.

* Okay, I like Human-types, like this team, and this one. But that's 'cause I'm the Jackass: don't try it if you ain't got it.

Presume you can build your team up in a feeder league so you are going to hit the main league at about 1850 or so.

Apart from the obvious Chaos and Chaos dwarf clawpomb nonsense I think Skaven are pretty overpowered, with sick oneturners, great wiz potential and even some bash. That will let you ignore the clawpombers. Dark and high elves can always win, at that TV the're almost identical.

Of course if you got ballz you play Humans!

Pick the one you do best with. For pure cheese, if you can build up willy-nilly, run Skaven with CPOMB Blitzers and Wrestle/Guard linos for as long as they last. Then when they fall apart, there's nothing wrong with Skitter, Glart, Fezglitch (okay, there's something wrong with Fez, but so much is right) and Wizard +MA9/AG4.

I know Orcs would not be a popular choice but I think they have a good toolbox of options at any TV level. I have played them in leagues since 2nd edition so I tend to play them well compared to other races.

Orcs are weak above 1400 in the new environment. :( Golly I wish this weren't true. They're my favorite. But nowadays, they're Tier 2 at best. BOBs are too fragile and too slow to rebuild, and Linemen have few options. Blitzers used to be a great value, and they're still okay, but they went from "too cheap" to "about right" as everything else went downhill, and it shows in the win rate.

Why I'm a Human Coach:
Midrange beats speed, but speed always bounces back.
Speed beats Claw, but leaves it intact.
Claw beats heavy, and breaks it in the process.
Heavy beats midrange, but heavy's not viable, so… midrange rules.

I think Orcs could be OK if the league has pick MVP. I voted Dark Elves, a distressingly efficient side that can have 6 blodgers at at 6SPP, and can easily spam Side Step.

So the top four pics are Chaos, Chaos Dwarf, DE, WE.

The finals results have been:

Vamp x 2
Pro Elf
Necro x 4
Orcs
DE x 2
Chaos Dwarf

The latter stat is a bit of a misnomer though as the Cyanide client only recently added Chaos Dwarves, so they have only been available for 3 seasons in my league.

If we add in runners up the picture doesn't change a ton (though I imagine one race will be a surprise)

Vamp x 3
Pro Elf
Necro x 5
Orcs x 2
DE x 2
Chaos Dwarf x 3
Norse
Khemri x 3
Lizardman x 2

Note no Chaos and no Wood Elves...

You play in a league with 22 teams and only nine of the races are represented? FIVE Necro teams, three vamps and three Khemri. I'd play Skaven, just to mix it up a bit.

Oh, those are the races that have made it to the finals, not the teams - in fact, mostly those are individual teams per race, but a few races have had multiple teams go.

We generally have 16-30 teams a season, and a reasonable spread of races...except elves and skaven.

Well, here's the question. Who do you play? Who wins isn't that big a thing. Who you'll see, that matters. Do you have a division? Who's in it?

Undead for me all the way as its only at 2100+ they start falling short but they are a top end competitive side all the way up to that point and fairly resilient as well.

This isn't so much for me to pick a team. I was interested in the TFF community take on this kind of structure and what they would pick.

I had Necro for a long time (and a darn good run with them), then I switched to Chaos Dwarves, now I have Dark Elves.
