Cool block dice: Indiegogo

Post by Wifflebat »

I'm not a big fan of most "alternative" block dice I've seen--most of them seem either hard-to-read or just ugly. I like (and wish I had) the FUMBBL dice, and I like these:

Fantasy Football Block Dice

(Not associated with the campaign in any way (other than being an overzealous first pledger), but I think it's worth promoting!)

Dice = cool.
Flexible funding on Indiegogo = not interested until they go on open sale.

I can understand that. You might want to contact the guy though--I know he's had at least some of the dice made already (he posted them on Facebook), so he might have the dice in hand and just be using IGG as an order platform.

I like the designs but am not a fan of that style of dice, I far prefer the more rounded cornered ones. I had the same issue with the FUMBBL block dice.

The campaign says that delivery is April 2014 which is a bit odd with 50 days still to go.

Have to agree. So far most of the flexible funding FF Indiegogo's have not been good bets to pledge on.

Hmm. Don't want to see anyone maligned or dredge anything up here, but are we talking about a few specific major failures, or a "general rule" here? EDIT: Never mind... I think I see the ones you might be referring to!

I'm in deep for Greebo's current campaign, figuring them for a well-established company. Should I be concerned?

Do not be concerned with Greebo. He's a very well known entity in the community.

As someone trying to get into BB on the tabletop I've found it hard to get dice in the US. Seems all the distributors for pitches and dice are in Europe. This might be worth risking $8 as that's what I'd spend in shipping for most of the other dice I've seen. Are there just a bunch of distributors I've missed?

Yeah, but the shipping is free. You're right about the distribution though. For some reason I had it in my head they didn't ship to the U.S. thanks for the heads up.

Impact will show you the prices in pounds by default, so it can be puzzling. They've got the some of the only block dice still in production that I don't find awful!

I know Bernuz, the campaing organizer, as I went to his tournament this last weekend. The dice were for that tournament and this is the left over dice he is trying to get rid of. For the tournament home page see: http://superbrawl.tumblr.com/ where you can see the dice as part of the coach ticket price (scroll down some on the oppening page). This was Bernuz first time organizing a tournament and I hope he is able to sell of his dice so he can do it again, because he did a very great job as an organizer. He also run an Pitch Invasion, a Swedish pitch making service and delivered two pitches to me this weekend : See this (swedish) forum for that information: http://forum.baconbreath.se/index.php?p ... omment_656 or visit this ALBUM with some of his pitches (I got two with the SweBBA-logo in the middle).

With that said: I dont know if he is trying to scam you, I would not think so as I know the guys characters, but if he turn out to be, I will personally go to his home (Sweden isnt that large of a country and he lives on the way to my parents...) and get your money back myself.

Hello!

I'm the campaign manager and like Lard said in the last comment i already have dice that i want to get out to you coaches around the world. The first ones that put in a pledge will be shipped today. This is one way i'm getting money back for my local tournament i had this weekend.

I'm absolutely not here to scam anyone and definitely not here to, in any way, take over the Fantasy Football-dice market. Just wanted to get my die out to the people all over so more people can enjoy Fantasy Football.

I'm really sorry if someone is disliking this campaign and feel free to contact me if you are concerned about anything.

As for the delivery date that i put on April 2014. I had to put in some date and just went with one. I'll ship weekly to all that got a perk.

As for the "not so rounded"-corners. i personally like that style of dice. Sorry for those who dont but there is alot of great alternatives out there with more rounded corners.

I never said I thought anyone was trying to scam anyone, I just personally refuse to touch and flexible funding campaigns through Indiegogo. My choice, and no sleight on anyone that uses it.
All that said, I think using it to sell off leftover dice does slightly break what the site is set up for though.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction for more info on the IndieGoGo campaigns that have had issues? Currently tempted by one at the mo', so it'd be nice to know what I'm risking.
