Funnily enough, it looks to me like they're reining it in a bit. A year or two ago these would have been $80 (£40) easily... $50 (£25) instead of £21 (so *only* 19% more expensive) is about as close to the UK price as I can remember seeing.

Examples in the store right now:
Escape from Goblin town hobbit game. UK store = £75. NZ store = $245 (£122.50), 63% more.
Warhammer Island of Blood. UK store = £61.50. NZ store = $195 (£97.50), 59% more.
Deathwing Command Squad. UK store = £35. NZ store = $90 (£45), 29% more.

I agree $50 is still way, way too much; but at least they're apparently making (admittedly glacially slow) moves towards bringing their internal exchange rate more into line with reality. You're right though that the uplift appears to be completely random... why the Hobbit game costs two thirds more again than in the UK is beyond me. Maybe the rights to market Hobbit and LOTR film memorabilia costs more in New Zealand? I can't think of any other reason (beyond getting silly with the store proximity to the hobbit premiere venue). It does look suspiciously like apparently random price gouging.

Looking at the frames on the website, it looks like there is a big slot in the back for the packs to plug into.
Probably not the hardest thing to fill and certainly easier than trimming away random junk.

Well I cracked and ended up buying a boxed set since I’ve not got myself any new toys lately. They do have a lot of conversion potential, in particular the helmets look a lot like the old skool football helmets. I drilled out the face mask of one helm and cut a head with cap to fit into it. I’d just need to add a chin strap and it’s done.

The torso does indeed have a small void in it for the backpack but this is not too noticable and easily filled if needed. The main issue I can see is that the arms are a too sci-fi, so they’d be great for dreadball but less so for Bloodbowl. I think I’d need to have the shoulder pads raised up.

The good thing about GW plastic kits is you get lots of extras so I may well try and sell off things like the backpacks and some of the equipment. If I got another 2 boxed sets from a discount retailer and resold the spare parts then it might be economical to make a human team. GW are releasing new Ogryns soon, the heads are awful but the bodies have more BB potential than their tubby fantasy counterparts.

I think that looks pretty good. It reminds me of the 2nd edition GW Humans, who had a great style but poor sculpts and poses.

Via Facebook.
Scion and Greatsword parts. I think this gives a particularly good look for a human team.

Heinous price though.

The new Ogryns are out as well now, they quite closely match the style of the Tempestus Scions so would be a suitable Ogre for a human team made of them.

Here is a low armoured version with just a shoulder pad.

I've also done a full armoured version, his face mask has been trimmed a bit. But I think it would need more work to make it fit the Bloodbowl universe.

Oddly the legs are a little stumpy, made all the worse when the full armour and shoulder pads are used.

The bane/gimp mask looks a bit daft but other than that the armoured up version isn't too bad.
