1FF? :o

Were are you going to get the money from to replace the players you will lose?

Haven't you noticed that Kaboom always recommends teams that only have 1FF? I suspect that he must do terribly in long-term leagues or is just explaining how not to run a team. I think he is in Trambi's league, so perhaps he can tell us whether Kaboom is completely crazy or not!

Just an update on my position. I ended up bowing to conventional wisdom and promoted my Rat Ogre mini to head coach before the league started. My eventual lineup was

2 stormvermin
2 gutter runners
1 thrower
7 linerats
9 FF
2 RR

With 30k in the bank leftover (could have got another thrower or GR but didn't want to rely so strongly on rookie ST 2 gutter runners when I was defending and didn't want a second thrower just yet so figured I'd use it to give me a nice bonus on top of my first gate.)

The team handled themselves OK until the last half where some unlucky injury rolls niggled and SId my thrower. The worst came at the end when my wood elf opponent forced me to donate all my winnings to charity with a Random Event. (We use Deathzone cards in our league if both players agree.) So now I'm down a thrower, on a skeleton team, no money for new throwers and looking to play Amazons next game. I do have 11 fan factor though. (*lucky roll plus the DZ card*) I'll have to just pray for a pitch invasion.

The game was a draw, no new skills and only 12 SPPs. I can't help but feel I'm worse off than when I started the league. Curse those Deathzone cards!!! :pissed:

Kaboom -
That lineup is fine for a tourney where income doesn't matter, but it'll get you killed in a league - you can't afford to have a Fan factor that low. Dump the Apoth or 1 linerat for the extra 50k and get a 6 FF (at least!). Suck it up the first game and buy it then. Remember that the other team is just as bad off as you are in game 1.

Matsu, sorry if I misunderstand your post, but you can only buy FF for a starting team. Once the teamsstarted the only way to increase your FF is on the FF table.

It was my understanding that he was talking about a starting team and I was suggesting a "redistribution of wealth". Of course, I didn't run the numbers, so it might not be a starting team and therefore stuck with that FF. Honestly, I'd restart a team if it only had a 1 for FF.

I think you bought not enough FF becuase you don't get any cash $$ when you play the match..... now your cash totaly depends on the other player
And when one of your little rats get kicked ... Thats the problem I had after my first game !! I had 6 FF and NO APO so one of my linerat was death !! :pissed: but I get a +2 of my fans so I should get some money.... BUT: I threw a 1 so I got 30 000 $$ So I lost a player and aren't able to buy him back !!

But I hope to win my next game and have a lot of money !!

I ll start a league skaven team like that :

1 Storm Vermin 90k
2 Gutter Runner 160k
1 Thrower 70k
8 Linerat 400k

3 Reroll 180 k
7 FF 70 k
30k bank

You got 12 players, and with 30k in bank you re pretty sure of getting an apo for game 2.
3 reroll seems enough for the begining
7 FF isn t bad

I started my Skaven Team with:

1 Rat Ogre
2 Storm Vermins
2 Throwers
4 Gutter Runners
2 Lineman
FF 7
RR 1

Unfortunenately the first game was against Dwarves, ending with a 1:2 and 0:8 Cas. :o But later I've made good experiences with this team.

I decided to go with

2 throwers
2 storm vermin
7 linerats
4 RR
9 FF

risky start, 11 players and no apoth.

But I think it payed off. Bought my first GR after game 4 and he quikly caught up to the rest for his spp total.

and in the mean time, I've got a solid team to back up the gutter runner stars, and avoided the spp-hoarding by a few players that many skaven teams seem to fall into.

ma 7 and ag 3 is enough for anybody to score, especially if you have 4 RR to backup the plays.

no Rat ogre for me, thank you.

A sensible skaven team is!
1 rat gore 130
2 gutter runners 160
2 storm vermin 180
1 thrower 70
5 linerats 250
2 rr 120
then i believe there was 9 left over for fan factor! Then after the first match but an apothecary or lineman as best suits you!
Try to play an evenly matched team at first, if possible wood elves as i've never known a W'elf team to start with a tree man so you get a huge advantage in strength!

Your not always going to get that choice however, and if you come up against an Orc, or Dwarf team, how are you going to replace the 2/3 dead/SI players easily?

Also I agree, 2 RR is too little, early Skaven teams just burn through them.

Has anyone considered taking Skaven the same direction as the Chaos thread and starting with 11 linerats, just something I'm toying with. Again cos of all the fun with mutations, and as with Chaos, certain players hog all the SPP's... Any thoughts?

Hi, this is my first post on this board and after reading afew of the threads, I find this is going to be one of my most viewed websites. This site gives great info. Thank you in advance. Ok not that the brown-nosing is done. Here is my first Skaven team. I have only had 1 match with them so far and it was against an Orc team. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. I have only played Bloodbowl about 5 times so I'm still a rookie. I think the Skaven are going to be great.

Starting lineup for team Plague Bringers
1 Thrower
1 Rat Ogre
1 Storm Vermin
2 Gutter Runners
6 Lineman

Rerolls=3
Fan Factor=5
Apothecary=1

The Rat Ogre cost me the game. I had a very easy touchdown but the RO got swarmed and ended up falling down 2 turns in a row when my Gutter Runner was 2 spaces from the goal line. that was enough time for those slow orcs to catch him and strip the ball from him. But over all I think the Rat Ogre was a good idea. It made the orc coach put his 2 Black Orcs on my Rat Ogre for most of the game. I only had 4 Skaven knocked out and 1 was out for the game. Those orcs are nasty to try and stun. But I did manage to knock out 3 of his orcs.

Well just my 2cp worth. I like my Skaven Team. I think they can do pretty good.
