600k of inducements for my Dark Elves - what to buy?

Hi all, some advise please! I joined a league last week on game #5 with my dark elves. My rookies won the match, but my orc opponent based me so hard, my roster for the next game comprises 7 linemen and 4 journeymen!

My next match is v Vampires & I expect to have around 600k in inducements. So what do I spend it on? Hubris would give me a reliable way to bash the Thralls, Harkon could take out even more. A halfling chef would hopefully remove some of the Vamps vital re-rolls! I could even go for Morg!

Against Vampires => CHEF. No hesitation here

Then see what amount you are left with. I'd try to include at least 1 babe also.

Remember, you don't have to field journey men. Not taking them will give you even more inducements for which you can buy blitzer mercenaries or other. Just a thought.

I'd be tempted to take Wizard, Horkon & Eldril and leave the Chef. Whilst it's nice to take re-rolls away from the Vamps, they're not guaranteed and 300 is a lot of TV.

But either way with such high inducements it sound like you're facing a developed Vamp team and it will be tough no matter what

Not too keen on the Chef: 1,5 rr stolen per half isn't so much for 300k, imo.


Idea 1: simple and effective
Wizard (150) + Morg (430)

Idea 2: speed kills, and no ball is safe
Wizard (150) + Eldril (200) + Roxanna (250)

Idea 3: ...and now, something different
Ithaca Benoin (220) + Hubris Rakart (260) + 2 babes
Ithaca isn't much use usually, but his (her?) dump off (2+ w.RR) can be useful against hypnotic vampires

About Horkon... I'm biased against stabbers (never managed anything with these guys), but against thralls it makes sense, in theory at least.

I would NOT take the chef.

On average you will steal 1.5 RRs each half - is that work 300k?

With only 11 you need more players.

Perhaps something like Elendril, Wizard, Merc+block (150 I think?), Bribe

Blitz with the merc, knock down the target, and if it is a vamp or high value thrall foul him with a loner.

The Chef is a waste of your inducement money.

If you are playing TT and your league allows cards, you might want to consider some cards, I agree with Swilhelm, You may need some players you'll already have 4 Journeman, and I think you're on the right track with star players.

I might consider the following

1x Merc Blitzer w/ Tackle 180K
1x Merc Blitzer vanila 130K
1x Wizard 150K
1x Apothocary 100K
100k card allowance.

That is 660k.

If you are playing on Cyanide that would change up the inducements.

Make sure to foul with the Loner Lineman I would only foul the thralls, if you remove them from the pitch the Vampires will be in trouble.

Ah that's right, you have free blitzer slots - so a merc blitzer is a much better investment.

I'm not sure I would take an extra apo though - with Vamps as your opponent they likely won't do much damage AND you have loaners to throw on the line.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I played the match last night and went for Hubris (to bash Thralls) and Eldril plus 2 babes.

Eldril was the main star; his pace allowed me to turn a pressured ball deep in my half into a score, and he prevented a Vampire score by putting a TZ on a receiving Vampire with his pass block skill.

Final result was 1-1, which, given the state of my team, I'm more than happy with!
