Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Don't understand a particular rule or just need to clarify something? This is the forum for you. With 2 of the BBRC members and the main LRB5/6 writer present at TFF, you're bound to get as good an answer as possible.
First of all you should not think that when a player has a strength of five that he has automatically to be a big guy. Officially and in terms of rules only players who have the racial characteristic "Big guy" are big guys.
So what about Mummies? (and maybe Bull Centaurs).
Those are no big guys bc they do not have the big guy characteristic and are even included on the Undead team roster. This is done out of balancing issues. It has been thought that Mummies should be using team re-rolls and that undead teams can have two Mummies in order to even out their other bad players.
Additionally, star player Ogres, minotaurs and Trolls etc are not Big guys either as they do not have the big guy characteristic, too.
Bottom line is, only player with the racial characteristic "Big Guy" are big guys, regardless of ST value, mini size or common sense.
Treemen have a 2 MV and 1 AG and they are still Big Guys. I usually forgive the oversight of not making mummies Big Guys though since they are the only STR5 players without access to an apothecary.
I saw a similar argument on the GW forum about a year ago; someone got into a huge debate about whether or not Mummies should be Big Guys, and thus have nega-traits. He ran around for 20-odd pages citing this reason and that, and getting into something of a huff.
What shut him down was someone else jumping on and suggesting that if he wanted Mummies to be Big Guys to try the following house rule: Give Mummies the Big Guy trait.
Pesonally, don't agree with this; Mummies have been around (as has the Undead team) in their current form for about 10 years. Yes, there has been the occaisional gripe about their capabilities, but nothing has really proven them to be unbalancing. This says to me that no change is really needed, but if you do really feel that Mummies should be Big Guys, try the fix above.
