Multiple Block

Post by Skummy »

All right, suppose a player throwing a Multiple Block fails. Both of the players he was blocking have Mighty Blow. Does this mean Mighty Blow can be applied to armor and injury?

If the Multiple blocking player is injured, who gets the casualty?

See, this kind of problem wouldn't arise if MB applied to both the armour and injury roll.

Anyways, I would rule that only one player can use his MB - it follows with the rule that says that only one gets the cas SPP should the mulitple blocker get injured.

Balrog: Where is that rule, please? I thought I remembered that, but can't find it anywhere.

Hmm, good question. I saw it in a FAQ that was floating around at some point. Ask Galak, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

No, although it might be in there as well. Unfortunately the Oberwald is outdated and no longer held in the high esteem it once was, so it's not always a good place to go looking for rulings (which is too bad because it is a very well put together document).

I was going to say the same thing, if you meant the Oberwald. But, thought I'd ask first

Ok...well forget what the "official answer" is...how do most leagues handle this?

My personal opinion is that the coach with the two players should be allowed to pick one of them for skill use and ultimately SPP awards.

The Oberwald on Galak's site is right up to date with LRB v2.
http://www.midgardbb.com/
It was last updated in December 2002 to represent the collected wisdom of all the gurus on TalkBloodBowl. You can e-mail the editor if you think anything needs correction before the next rules review.

It was never intended to be official, but does usually represent a consensus view of the experts and often is handy by giving page numbers in LRB2 where the required rule is not in the obvious place.

With regard to the Multiple Block question it has this to say:
"If the Multiple Block player is knocked over and becomes a casualty, randomly select one of the players involved in the block for SPPs, unless one uses Might Blow etc. to cause the casualty."

It doesn't specifically say only one can use Might Blow but I think that is understood.

So if I understand you correctly, if one of the players has MB, you can pick him to automatically receive the CAS SPP instead of randomly determining it?

Not arguing...just looking for clarification.

Yes, but only if he used the Mighty Blow skill.
