I have used quite a few Meiko miniatures in my Orc team... I like the goblins and the Sewer Troll is an absolutely fantastic piece. I picked up a Blitzer to use as a Star Player though and was glad I hadn't bought it to be a regular Blitzer as it was huge compared to the rest of the team (I do like it as a Star Player piece but I was quite lucky I think). I don't mind a bit of difference in scale... I'm not as picky as some but sometimes it just makes it harder to buy those miniatures unless you're buying an entire team made up solely from those miniatures.Apòstol wrote:It's funny...
Why we manufacturers are supposed to follow the GW scale? As far as I know, those minis are discontinued. What's the point of following a discontinued line?
In my opinion, a pretty good option is to follow the Willy Miniatures scale. At least, it's what I plan to with my brand Meiko Miniatures.
On the other hand, I bought the Meiko Deathroller and actually found it to be a little on the small side even for the 2nd edition dwarves and the Willys slayer made it look ludicrous. In the end I picked up a Vortice Deathroller not just because it is a great model but because it fit in to my team far better. Most Blood Bowl players (in my experience) use a mix of miniatures which include lots of old GW stuff.
The Willys troll slayer I mentioned in this thread was a disappointment in particular purely down to it being a BEAUTIFUL miniature but literally twice the size of what is generally recognised to be the size of a dwarf in 28mm scale. If you buy a miniature from a company that is way bigger (or smaller) than you expect it to be then you may not buy from that manufacturer again! I really do like Meiko and Willys miniatures and will continue to buy them but I am aware that I have to be very careful regarding this scale issue.
One idea might be to do what I have seen some manufacturers begin to do and that is photograph their miniatures next to a block die so that the consumer can make an informed choice. I like this and think it would stop a lot of issues as people will know what to expect before they receive the miniatures.
