How to paint blue or worst case blue-ish metal?

Post by theghr »

Hi. You know of any paint that is like those bronze, silver and gold metallic colors, but in a blue color? Or blue-ish? If not, how can i get this effect?

Thanks.

Vallejo has a "metallic medium" which can be mixed with any other paint to make it "metallic".

If you have Vallejo silver you can try diluting it and mixing with another colour (blue in your case) especially the transparent inks. Might work.

Something I did in the past was paint gun metal/silver and then apply a coast of a transparent paint.

Depends on the effect you need but I hope this has been of some help.

Aside from metallic blue paint as mentioned above you could also apply several layers of blue glaze to silver. That would get you a very light greyish metallic blue.

There are two ways: a true metallic and a no metal metal way. For the metallic way as someone suggested paint the metal and after apply few glazes of the metalli blue vallejo air, or the scale75 metallic blue. For the no metal metal way you can do as I made adding a bluish green to the greay to have a subtle bluish look. Two pics of example:

Simple solution is mix blue ink or wash with silver.
