Hmm.. idunno, I'd really like to get him back to where he was in 2nd ed. (which I understand is a less quasimodo-like look) . I think it would be a waste of energy to create a copy of this guy, just a bit smaller Image

-But if that means that everybody wants a quasi-type Igor, and I can't sell any of "madmax" Igor, then maybe I'd have to reconsider.

Love the sketches. Can't wait to see the greens.

Personally, I think you're on the right track concentrating on the Crazy rather than the Igor. The "Eey-Gor" hunchback star player you show in your last post exists, yet Crazy Igor is winning your poll. People want something different, and I like your take on the character.

I think I may have problems conveying the arms coming out of the straightjacket sleeves.. It might just be too busy with detail? How would people feel if I tried a design, where the hands were still in sleeves? Like so:

-or would it turn you off?

That is not who the character was ever meant to be. The original character name was Mad Max but JJ was concerned that it was copyrighted and wanted it changed. Geoff on TFF was the guy who wanted him named Crazy Igor and unfortunately that got brought up to JJ and since he didn't like Mad Max he said sure go with that. I do want to state that Paul Gegg screamed that this was a mistake but it stuck.

The Igor inducement is meant to be hunchback. The Star Player is meant to be just that an insane Thrall who loves pain and vampires and is really able to take a beating and keep on ticking.

Seriously if you do this player ... focus on that his name used to be Mad Max as that is more what he should be than any bad connection from JJ's poor name choice. (Wish it would have been Crazy Ivan ... that would have worked).

I like the Renfield/Don Quixote look of your second concept.

As far as the straitjacket goes, I'd rather have him look like somebody who would really be playing Blood Bowl, so hands in sleeves would be a bit off-putting for me. I'm not some kind of stickler for what some people call "realism" in fantasy games, but I'd like to be able to see the idea of what the guy's doing on the field. Is he an escapee? Do wardens bring him into the game and let him loose? Either way, he'd probably be more or less unconstrained. The straitjacket's a cool idea, though, and if you can work it in, it'd be unique.

Side note: maybe it's just early in the day, but I was expecting to see a greater percentage of people being restrained for mental health purposes when I Googled "straitjacket"... a bit startling.

Crazy I(van)gor with a Mankind/Abyss mask.

In fact, a Mick Foley inspired figure (minus the shirt and tie) would be great.

Interesting! Hmm.. buut I think that wrestler look may be too "badass"-insane for my tastes.. Remember, he IS a bit feeble. I kinda like the idea of the devotee insane guy who hopes to get turned by Vampires..

In regards to Puzzlemonkeys question it's actually a funny animators urban myth I've been inspired by. In the 40's Tex Avery was the king of whacky toons (Red hot riding hood, Northwest Hounded Police) and one animator in his staff was the best at animating the whacky double and triple takes the characters would do. But he had a mental illness and was commited to a mental hospital. Tex Avery, however, always kept a drawing desk fully supplied with paper and pencils in his usual spot, because he'd break out from time to time and come and animate a scene or two. I can highly recommend Northwest hounded police, for the most take-filled cartoon ever :)

So, I just think it's a funny idea that the coach just keeps a spare helmet and shoulder pads lying on the bench in case Igor would be able to make it out of the looney bin in time for the match! XD

Oh yeah, my first thought regarding the "hands in sleeves" option was also "Well, how is he gonna be able to play ball?" and if most people feel that way, I'll find a way to have his hands show.. Remember I'll do some sketches for Willow as well :)

Hmm, not sure about some of those Earlice sketches, he looks a bit like he wears that helmet all the time to protect himself rather than a dangerous flesh eating monster in them.

Oh yes that is true, they are lightly armoured and die a lot.

I think he'd be better without a helmet at all as the pic on the bottom left looks like a cycling helmet. Combined with his expression he resembles a bonehead or really stupid player.
