Scale of Manufacturers
Alright, I've not bought any Blood Bowl minis in well over a decade. Looking to replenish lost teams...and GW no longer even has a Specialist Games site.
I see there are lots of cool looking minis out there by newer companies. Are they all still 28mm? I'm familiar with Black Scorpion through playing Legends of the Old West. Those figs are well taller than 28mm. Maybe 32mm.
So, if I were to buy, say a Willy or Meiko team will they be to scale with the 28mm 'standard' BB minis?
Also, I'm seeing new versions of Griff, Zug, Jordell, etc as well as new versions of official BB teams. How'd these not get a GW C&D letter like the rest of the world did a few years back? How are they getting away it?
Cheers all!

I have no problems with 32mm for ST4 players, but I need my regular figures to be 28mm. I think Willy minis generally are a bit taller if not at least bulkier than that. I have the halfling team and they are the same height as a regular dwarf player. They look really great on their own, but on the line of scrimmage across the boxed set orc team they look huge. Then again GW has a problem with orc size creep themselves.

Re: Scale of Manufacturers
It's probably not easy if you're not familiar with the minis anymore, but everything sculpted by Franarcilla or Pedro Ramos tends to be on the bigger (sometimes huge) side of the scale?
I think that would mean Willy Miniatures, Meiko. Probably also most of the digitally sculpted minis (I don't own any of them)
Impact Miniatures, Greebo, Neomics, Rolljordan (except for digitally sculpted?) are what I would call normal size. They are still probably a bit bigger than the old 2nd ed GW minis. But in scale with 3rd, 4th, 5th ed GWs.
I don't know about the new digitally sculpted teams, they seem to be a bit bigger. But I don't know.

" 32mm heroic scale".Madsherman wrote:What exactly do you mean by "universal"? Gaspez's norse look a lot bigger than GW norse
Never saw Gaspez' Norse "in the flesh" but their awesome Slann (which I have) are on the biggish size - biggish but without being "Willy big". They rank well with Greebo's Waagh-sabi Goblins but are taller and bulkier than Greebo's Sylvania.
Other Gaspez models I have are proper 32mm or heroic 32mm as well.

Re: Scale of Manufacturers
A thread with photos would be awesome. Also, include what line the other figs are from...and if I'm making requests, try to stick to linemen for ease of comparison.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Scale of Manufacturers
For total fairness, maybe place a felt (no need of glue) or equivalent thing under the bases, so all models have the same ground level.

Re: Scale of Manufacturers
The idea of a comparison thread was raised once before I believe.
It's a great idea & I'm keen to contribute.
A standard comparison mini would be most useful, and I think the plastic 3rd edition human lineman would be the most common mini.
Also, it would be good if a ruler could be placed behind the minis and maybe a stack of block dice too?
I think that would provide the most accurate measurements to compare by.
Thoughts, people?

Re: Scale of Manufacturers
Well, we also have to take into account that inside the whole range of each manufacturer there are some differences of scale. For example, the Rolljordan/Greebo Silvanias have a smaller scale than the Rolljordan/Greebo Volmarians.Brage97 wrote:It's probably not easy if you're not familiar with the minis anymore, but everything sculpted by Franarcilla or Pedro Ramos tends to be on the bigger (sometimes huge) side of the scale?

That's easy to see with this image, where as you can see the Meiko Chaos Dwarves sculpted by Franarcilla are clearly smaller than the Volmarians. Also, as you can see the Meiko Hobgoblins are smaller or same size (but not bigger) than the Gaspez Hobgoblins:
