Best SCULPTOR/3D ARTIST in the business?

Post by theghr »

Never mind brands since they to some degree uses the same sculptors/3d Artists. So who do you think is the best? If you dont know who just put up the team(s) in question.

I think Raffaele Stumpo is the man, he did Gaspez Uomini del Nord, Vampires, and i guess their Chaos Dwarves and Chaos Pact and a whole lot of sideline figures for them. His latest team is the Icelanders for Roll Jordan on Indiegogo. I just love his great feel for the human physique and dynamics. He manages to keep it simple when just that is easier said than done.

The best IMHO is Pedro Ramos. He has done some amazing work on the willy miniatures and he is my guy to go to when I need a tournament miniature. He did the Lycos Flesh golem and has done an amazin job on him.

I must say that Rafael Navajas that do a lot for RNEstudio(Perhaps the same person?) is quite solid as well, but perhaps just prefer good sculpts over 3D.

I think its a travesty that many teams on sale dont have the artist presented in the stores listings. Its like jockey's getting more hype than the horses in horse racing, or what do i know in some circles perhaps its the jockey getting forgotten.

Rafael Navajas is not the same person as Raffaele Stumpo.

(I don't believe he does his own digital sculpting either, though I could be wrong. A fine person and great sculpts nonetheless.)

That is quite obvious.

Pedro Ramos is the best "old school" sculptor doing BB stuff - I just wish his stuff was less "inspired by Cyanide" in truth..

RNestudios are fantastic to deal with though, Rafael has done some custom minis for my league recently and is a solid guy.. :smoking:

Yep, really captures the essence of Blood Bowl. An amazing talent.

And I have to say that Raffaele Stumpo's work has the same qualities, specially that latest Norse team

Werner Klocke

(not doing any BB stuff as far as I know), but check out his Freebooters Fate range. Also does (or used to do) quite a lot of Reaper stuff.

Haha. I didn't know what you meant by "(Perhaps the same person?)." I now see that you meant that Rafael Navajas might be the RN in RN Estudio. Which he is.

Are we allowed to pick a certain 2nd ed mini sculptor? :)

Otherwise Pedro, as long as his design brief is tight enough to stop scale creep!

After seeing his recent work I consider Franarcilla my personal favorite sculptor for BB miniatures.

I really enjoyed the Chaos Pact and with the new Chaos team he even improves on that

My vote goes to Pedro Ramos. He's sculpted the custom mini for my tournament for 4 of the past 5 years. His minis are sometimes on the larger side, but I've yet to see a mini that he's sculpted that hasn't been at least a "good". Most of the time they are a "very good to amazing" standard.

Franarcilla, Raffaele Stumpo and Rafael Navajas are all pretty good too. Lorenzo from Greebo Miniatures has sculpted some awesome minis (I love his WCQ Eagle), but he's also sculpted ones that didn't do much for me.

As it stands now i think my top-4 is:

1, Raffaele Stumpo-Its the anatomy that blows me away
2, Franarcilla-Love his grungy style
3, Rafael Navajas-Often does real cool special details
4, Pedro Ramos-Great funny imagination but the one small minus is that i find the details in the muscularity to be a bit blocky

God knows who the rest is. As i said, i think its a travesty that sculptors dont get credited in webstores listings.

Those are probably the most prolific ones, and since I like all of them (I'd put Pedro Ramos on my number 1), there are 3 new sculptors that I always wait for their new stuff:

- Serg-natos, (Chaos Dwarves and Imperial Halflings for Willy Miniatures)
- Fausto (Chaos and Vampires for Willy Miniatures)
- Ru-mor (Amazons for Willy Miniatures)
