Need a football for a conversion...
...and my sculpting skills are pretty much non-existent, and the boxed game footballs are just a little big for what I want. does anyone have any recommendations for any reasonably priced alternatives?

The balls that came with 2nd edition are slightly smaller. I think tritex games might have some.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Tritex looked to be sold out.
Yeah, I guess I can order one from Impact and just snip the ring off of it. That should be good enough.
thanks

The ones that Comixininos stock are a variety of sizes but I have seen some smaller ones from them. Could be perfect.

I've found a human 3rd ed plastic thrower to be a useful source of a 'ball in the hand' in the past. Very useful for those lacking in sculpting skills where a handswap might be ideal

Actually, I need one without a hand.
The conversion I'm doing is for my coach mini. He has a foot up on a pile of cannonballs. I want to swap the cannonballs for a football, hence the size requirements.

Hey Mikey,
Your last post made me go "Oh, I know what you are looking for!"
I kind of had the same idea some years ago. I used a ball from either the plastic orc or human throwers that came with the boxed set. They are slightly smaller than the free balls that also were in the box, once you cut/shave/file off the fingers. Soft plastic, so very easy to do. Paint it and it will look fine.
Other ideas, hmm... the magnetic balls I bought from Impact Minis are a very nice size. The smallest I have found "free/lose" from hands are from RN Estudios. Here's a pic of all my balls just hanging out for the world to gawk at.
Cheers,
-Dan

Without all the extra ball distractions, the coach would look better. Like my work in progress Necro-based human model team.

Re: Need a football for a conversion...
Well Echsenmensch, that's a good question.
Really had to think about it for a minute. Going back quite a few years there. You remember that there was a Zap! spell wizards could throw out as an alternative? Needed a mini for that effect and I couldn't find one that I liked. Until I started a Brettonian army and discovered the Fey Enchantress model. She came with the little guy. That part is a clear memory.
Next is a bit foggy. The sign arm... I used a snotling mini arm with the sign already on it or it was a snotling arm with a piece off an Imperial Guard tank as a signboard. One of those two. Sorry can't recall clearly. I do love to cut and piece together minis.
Cheers.
