I need to find that White Dwarf article that had him in it to see what his original stats were to get a good suggestion.

Thanks Lecter1972 ... found my copy of White Dwarf #86 right before you posted that (which was good because I needed the page to the left of that article to do the conversion)

Glart Smashrip (the father of the current star player in the CRP)

Compared to a Skaven Lineman he was:
MA = -3 (straight forward)
CS = same
TS = same
ST = +1 (straight forward)
TH = +1 (+1 AV works for this)
WD = same
AT = same
CL = same
And then he had +1 to all his Tackle rolls (Tackle and Block either could work for this, both are also an option)
Then any wound that he inflicted on an opponent was an automatic Dead result (no Badly Hurt or SI) (a tough one as this type of skill no longer exists. A combo of Piling On and Mighty Blow would be the closest deadly effect without a mutation to match up)

To make him more Star Player like ... I'd probably start him off a Blitzer base instead of a Lineman base

So you end up with:
MA 4 / ST 4 / AG 3 / AV 9
Loner, Block, Tackle, Piling On, Mighty Blow
Price = 200k

To get the price I did (90k Blitzer - 90k (-3 MA) + 50k (+1 ST) + 30k (+1 AV) + 20k (2 Star Player Tax for stat increases) + 40k (Block skill on ST 4 star player) + 20k (Tackle) + 20k (Piling On) + 20k (Mighty Blow)

Feels about right if you compare him to Grim Ironjaw

Was fun to do this ... was one of the reasons I originally got invited to the BBRC was because of this old stuff and my work to convert it to present day back then.

I'm no expert on these things but in keeping with his obese size I thought that I would try to keep the skills and stat line appropriate to the theme without going over the top. To that end I see him being slower than a normal linerat as his weight won't allow him to move that fast but it does lend him some extra bulk so he's slightly stronger. His agility would obvioulsy suffer as it's much harder to manoeuvre himself about but the extra padding affords a little more protection. So stats wise I saw him as MA5 ST4 AG2 AV8. Skills would be Loner (obviously), Stand Firm (his huge bulk makes it difficult to move him if he doesn't want to to move), Juggernaut (Once he gets moving he's hard to stop), Wrestle (He uses his extra weight to pull attackers down to the ground) and Piling On (Once he gets a player down he throws himself in the air, just like 'Big Dadddy'', and splashes down on his hapless victim, pinning him under his weight).

I don't really know how to cost these things but I would say about 170k or 180k sounds OKish (maybe)

Oh, and I would be up for one if they get cast and you have some to sell.
Really like the idea of some of these skills, particularly Juggernaut but as per Toms illustration I think that will make him a little too expensive

I don't know, I based him off a Linerat. If I do it off a Blitzer, as per Tom, and give him AV9 as well but keep his AG at 2 ( I still think he's a big boy who wouldn't be as agile as his mates) then I get:

90k Blitzer - 60k (-2 MA) + 50k (+1 ST) + 30k (+1 AV) - 30k (-1 AG) + 20k (2 Star Player Tax for stat increases) + 20k (Wrestle) + 20k (Juggernaut) + 20k (Piling On) + 20k (Stand Firm) = 180k which is pretty much in line with what Tom did.

Have to say though, I like the theme behind my build but I think prefer Tom's A star with Block and Mighty Blow is always nice.

I'd love one to - is there any way you can work with Pedro and/or Tom to get it cast to wider numbers?

To be clear to Be4ch ... I like the theme you went with. I was just offering up a translation of what his stats were in 1st edition to the CRP edition as closely as it could be done. So was not going for theme at all ... just point A to point B. Used the same method when I turned the 2nd Ed Slann rules into the CRP Slann team. A nod to history. I do see your skills definitely for theme if it was a brand new star. My only comment would be that -1 AG on a blocker to get a 30k discount is something we really tried to avoid. So if I was looking at your build at a minimum I would go back to AG 3 and a 210k price to avoid what we called "artificial blocker discounting" when we were working on the CRP rules.

As for casting ... IF Lecter1972 wanted more than a few of these to be out there .... happy to add him to our resin star player line that is slowly expanding.

Galak, yeah, sorry, I was at work and trying to get something typed out before my boss came back. I wasn't having a pop at you, I was looking at what I had done and just trying to show that it wouldn't work out more expensive, as Lecter thought it might. My last line was terrible, what I meant to say was "Have to say, though I like the theme behind my build, I think prefer Tom's. A star with Block and Mighty Blow is always nice." I think that reads better and conveys what I meant to say instead of hash I made of it (Les haste, more speed from me next time).

Thanks for the point on the AG decrease, I hadn't thought of that and I can see what you're saying. My thinking went "fat guy = less agile". I didn't even consider the consequences on the build of the player and his cost.

Hopefully it will get cast as it's a nice looking model.

This will be cast up and available to buy

I don't know how many will be available as I have some obligations / promises to keep but there should be enough for anyone who has expressed an interest in this thread to be given an opportunity to buy

Thanks for the offer Tom

I have placed an order to have it cast up in metal, if demand exceeds this casting run I will certainly discuss this option of working with you and Impact and adding it to your resin star player line
