Goblin team a waste of time?

Post by Akrith »

I was wondering, aside from having an excuse to foul rerentlessly :) are these guys worth using? I was thinking of trying them out. Any advice from you gobbo coaches out there?

run tactic, with a lot of tacle zone.
That's what i do, i dont use TTM exept for the last turns, and i dont foul a lot.
But my running tactic gave me a trophy and a lot of learning abour tacle zone.
tips: a sneaky tactic against wood elves and skaven (catchers and gutter runners)=>give the ball to the Ogre. (I ve done it in semi final against a skaven team and won 2/1, 2 TD from by Ogre)

Goblins (and Halflings) are supposed to be useless. They ought to win 1/5 of their games.

Which is why they need to be brought down a notch or two, because right now, they win a lot more than that, at least at low TR levels. Maybe simply increasing the cost of goblins and halflings by 10k would solve this...

Well, I am 2-9 with my Goblin team.

Are they a waste of time? Could be. But I think more importantly they are a learning experience. By playing the Gobbos I have learned a lot about tactics and different strategies, that I may never have come across.

I think that the AV7 on plus Stunty is plenty to keep them balanced. Take your Goblins and play Dwarves and see how well you come out. I have 1 Gobbo with only 10 SPPs but 3 Niggles! another 3 with Niggles, 1 with 2 Niggles and a troll with a Niggle. I would replace them... but they are my only ones with skills and i have to replace at least 1 Goblin per game.

Thanks for all you guys help. Just for the modeling and fun factor I'll propbably be bringing a night goblin team for the Chaos Cup @ Chicago GD. Even with a squig hopper instead of a pogo stick! I figure I'm gonna lose anyway I may as well have fun at it.

That's the spirit! They are definately a fun team to play. I played them for a season in our league. We allowed one secret weapon and I choose the ball and chain. We shouldn't have allowed me to use rerolls on the fanatic though, he lasted the ENTIRE season and was well hated.
Very fun team though, I had a bunch of lil goblins being towered over by those two HUGE Confrentation Trolls.

No team is a waste of time. You have just got to enjoy playing BB. With that you get fulfillment with every game! Apart from when.......

I think the Gobbos and the Halflings need to be taken from a sense of fun. That is do not get too caught up trying to win lots of games or the Cup. That said, there are tactics you can use/devlop to at least challenge your opponents, which is more fun for the both of you.

Check out Galak's site
http://www.midgardbb.com/Tactics/BBTactics.html
in particular the Gobbo and Halfling tactics for some insights.

Of the two I think Halflings will be my "loser team" when I get around to buying one. They are far worse then Gobbos and so have more justification for approaching each game with a hopelessly optimistic, never-say-die attitude (for one thing they probably do not have time before they cop it :D )

Still the Gobbos are also great fun and appeal more because of the fun of the secret weapons. Ball and chain, chainsaw are favorites but the hands down winner is the bombadier. Whole swathes of both teams getting blown up and bombs being heaved back and forth? Bring on the comedy!!! :P

Goboz and halflegs are very enjoyable for the fun.
But also, they learn you much more than all the other race about how to play 'safe'.
