Watch some painting tutorials on YouTube.
That always fires me up.

I must admit, my painting motivation becomes greater as the date of the tournaments get closer :)

Perhaps the thing to do a hobby blog - maybe on here on on the Blood Bowl Community page on Facebook. They you will get some nice comments about your painting project which can give you the motivation to carry on with it.

I've had a painting blog since about 2008. Even if it's only me looking at it, it's nice to look back and see what I was painting as the years have gone past.

Get a desk or somewhere you can leave all your stuff set up, paints, brushes, models etc it makes it easier to stop and start even if you have 5 or 10 minutes. This is currently my excuse for not painting. It works a treat

Good luck

This

Ive only just returned to the hobby but its so much easier having my painting kit ready to go when I get a window of free time in amongst the life/family chaos of it all....

Also the fact that I currently do not have a team to play with is quite a motivator!

I did this recently. I tried to persevere and I absolutely hated it. To be honest, I've been a bit blocked for the last six months, and I think my Orc team suffered because of it. Luckily, I have a wonderful (and intelligent other half). She suggested that I stop everything and just grab a couple of random models. Paint them for the hell of it, and not because they were part of a team or anything else; it worked perfectly.

I'm not saying that this would work for everyone, but for me, the freedom was great. I now have the inspiration and privation to get back and start a new team.

Review the Show us yer teams, and What are you painting Right Now threads for inspiration.... Besides doing as others suggested in keeping an open paint station, I sometimes line up my pots and idly swap them around till a color sheme presents itself....

Agree - I hate paintint and rarely do it. Ive got 2 teams now that I want to play but cant start painting.

So I just bought a Judge Dredd figure and Ill paint that as a one off for some fun just to get back into the habit.

Play some games with the team. That helps me getting motivated.

If you're not "feeling it", you can't force it. But my problem is more laziness/distractions.

This is going to sound silly, but to tell the two problems (that is, "Painter's Block" and "Laziness") apart, just sit at your painting station.

It takes some discipline - "I am going to sit here for the next 30 minutes, so I might as well paint". Most of the time, I pick up a model and start painting. If I'm really blocked up and not feeling it, I waste a half hour staring at my minis. The important part is to not get up or allow yourself to be distracted. Most of the time you'll just be so bored that you pick up *something*.

Posting my team fully painted in the "Show us yer team" thread is my carrot :) Also, once I start the season, nothing gets painted, so I have to finish before that. And sitting by the table in front of a medium good film with some coffee and my GF corcheing in the couch is my energy-recharge.

that doesn't seem to work for me as i have never gotten a single comment from a team i posted, so i guess other people don't like my teams. lol
i, too, dislike painting. i have recently started back up after nearly 10 years of not painting minis. the first team, i just slapped some paint on called them "finished." the second team, i took a little more time with and they ended up, "decent." by the third team, i was still not remotely enjoying it, but i was getting back into a rhythm at least. i took even more time on that team and have actually won "Fan Favorite" (aka best team) awards at two different local tourneys. i'm not remotely on the same level as guys like j_bone or axia, but i'm happy with the results i am getting. being satisfied with the results (and a lack of funds to pay other people to paint) is what keeps me at the table. i still can have a VERY hard time finding motivation, but i'm finding more and more that the more i paint, the less i hate it. i still don't enjoy it, but i don't detest it anymore either.

The comments I got was mostly about using square bases instead of round.
This is something to you have to get used to around here.
There is a "Hello"-thread in the Newbie section and with 15 people viewing it, I was the first to response a "Welcome!"

A lot of members seem to be mostly lurkers around here and you just seem to see the same about 20 names in most of the threads.

But that's got nothing to do with painting or your lack of motivation to do it.
I'm waiting for the last minis to arrive fur my "5 new teams" project (aside from the Slann, of course) and psyching myself up for painting them.
Just a question: Do you just have no motivation to grab some brushes or do you just sit there having no idea what to paint your teams like?
Maybe your lack of motivation is caused by a lack of inspiration?

Giving it some thought as well, I really think I need to start with my linemen (or line elves in my case) first, because after lining up what I have and haven't done, it appears that blizters, slayers, big guys, secret weapons etc. are all (sort of) painted, seems that I like flashy stuff!
