OK, here's a place for posting obituaries of noteworthy players. I'll kick it off(I've been waiting for Longfang to post this, but what the hell, I'll do it!).
Sunday night marked the passing of "Hawkeye" Montana, a founder member of the Rollin' Reefers, Longfang's old human team formed years back. He bravely/foolishly ran back to prevent an assist from a Norse Blitzer, but Oops! Too near the sideline! One short frenzy later, he was torn to pieces by the crowd.
Anyway here's his stats:
MA7 ST3 AG3 AV8 Leader, Surehands, Pass, Accurate, Strong Arm. 21 Comp, 2 TD's, 1 Int, 5 MVP's, 54 SPP's.
And only a couple of games back, they lost Greg "the legs" Johnson, their star Catcher:
MA9 ST2 AG3 AV7 Block, Dodge, Stand Firm, Catch, Nerves of Steel. 24 TD's, 2 MVP's, 82Spp's.
Aging process? Forced retirements? Who needs them?

If memory serves me correctly, my best player on Da Zoggin Nutterz (3rd Edition) was Big Bad Blagrot: I can't remember how many SPPs he had apart from a ton of MVPs, but he was 6339 Block, Dodge, Stand Firm, Tackle, Diving Tackle, Sure Hands and was killed by a Wood Elf!! It was the most depressing/humiliating day of my life

My best player:-

Fransiska Vengance: 8348 Witch Elf with Frenzy, Dodge, Jump Up, Block, Side Step.

She was on 49 SPPs, only needing 2 more to go up a level when she fell over going for it for a TD, and died...

Not the most heroic death, nor a particularly funny one.

I agree. I love picking names that reflect the players position aswell, such as Benny Bullseye, Jimmy Sureshot (Human throwers), Acebawl Chukka (Orc Thrower).

Anyway, sticking with the thread, we have lost a number of quality players in our league, and I'm sure our Wood Elf Coach would love me to mention his Catcher: Sathbuinn Catcher MA9 ST3 AG5 AV7 Catch, Dodge, Sure Feet, Side Step, Sprint 1Comp 40TD 5MVP 146SPP from his Loren Lightning.

I happy to say that it was caused by a member of my Flamers side (Human team) during Snotling99.

Some players! Just thought I'd add that we have a Human Thrower called Archie Sureshot, despite the fact that he's not dead(YET)! Great minds and all that....

Archie........so that must be Jimmy's long lost brother  He'll be well pleased when I tell him....he may even actually manage to pass the ball now!!!!!

Jimmy Sureshot still plays for the old Bilbali Dragons, who are not members of any league and only play exhibition games nowadays.

Skitter Skorzit RIP, Jeepers Creepers Gutter Runner.
MA 10, ST 2, AG 5, AV 7. AG +1, Dodge, Catch, Very Long Legs, Sprint.
5 Completions, 23 TD's, 1 interception and 2 MVP, 86 SPP's.

A one turn merchant, ran straight through most defences with AG5. Died, aptly enough, going for the 3rd extra square for another 1 turner.

In our league. Two new team played their first match against eachother. It was a Norsca-Amazon match. The Amazon's get the ball and decide to block an Ogre who was annoying them. The girls killed him immediately. So, this guy's team has done NOTHING so far, no player had ever moved yet, and his most expensive player is immediately killed.
Talk about a short career.

OK my contribution to this tale of misery. Although the following Orc Blitzer only had 32 SPPs, he rolled double 6, 11 and a Double for his skill rolls! Unfortunately he failed a dodge (going to pick up the ball in the oppponents half) leaving him next to a couple of Chaos Dwarves. He then got surrounded (all the CDs have Guard) :( and knocked down. The foul came and he was stunned. Next turn he was fouled again.... and died... No problem I thought.... the apothecary will save him....... nope!

Tolly Blitzer 6 4 4 9 Block, +1 AG, Stand Firm, +1 ST, 32 SPPs

Years ago, in my first ever playoff series, I managed to lose my Star Dwarf Runner: Ironhead Longshanks: 6 4 4 9, Block, Sure Hands Dodge, Thick Skull.

With only 5 of his teammates left in support, he had taken us to 2-1 up by 2-turn scoring against the Unwashedington Deadskins in the semi finals of the PBBL Chaos Cup

He was killed the very next drive by a rampaging Frank N Stein. The Team Apothecary had had his head snicked off by the head coach for completely failing to heal a star longbeard who was killed in the first block of the match. The fact that another LB was killed in the second block of the match only added to the coach's pain.

Still, his sacrifice was not in vain. Despite pouring rain and a chronic shortage of players we held on in the last drive, spilling the ball loose and throwing it way downfield to prevent the deadies from levelling the score.

There's no way that he can score in one turn from there.

He needs to dodge with a Zombie, make 2 go for its, pick up the ball in the rain then cob it into the endzone on a 6+ to the hands of a waiting Wight...
...
...
...

OH F**K OFF!

The head coach of the Asundel Ironsides was later found drowning his "sorrows" in a 55 gallon drum of Bugmans. His "sorrows" (as he called his players after that match), concluded that it was probably the best way to go under the circumstances.
