The Balrog can try out anything it wants, who's gonna stop it? ;-)

Take the 3rd GR. If you have the money to spend, and you buy a different posistion, a GR is sure to die.

Here's an update on my team, the Brotherhood of Evil Rodents.

I've played five games and I have a 4-0-1 record, in those five games I've managed to score 15 TDs and inflict 11 casualties (although I received 15).

Here's my roster:

Rat Ogre w/ Block and Pro (19 SPPs)
Gutter Runner 1 w/ Block (12 SPPs)
Gutter Runner 2 w/ Block (15 SPPs)
Thrower 1 (2 SPPs)
Thrower 2 w/ Accurate (11 SPPs)
Blitzer 1 w/ Guard (6 SPPs)
Blitzer 2 w/ Guard and Tackle (17 SPPs)
Linerat 1 w/ Kick (9 SPPs)
6x Linerats (no skills)

My team rating is 138 and so far I am very satisfied with how the team plays. I've only lost one player so far (a dead linerat who had 1 SPP, I decided to not use the apoth on him - good call too, as it saved me a stat decrease on a GR).

Anyways, both my Gutter Runners will most likely earn their second skills next game, and I was wondering what skills I should take. The rest of the league is very bashy, although there are 4 elf teams too. Barring doubles or stat increases I was thinking of going with Leap on one GR and Strip Ball on the other. Thoughts?

Not sure about Strip Ball on a ST 2 player. I would wait until I got a double on a gutter and could therefore either take Dauntless or Horns. Then that Gutter would be a prime candidate for Strip Ball.

Leap is an excellent choice - for the other gutter, I would think about Side Step with a view to adding Shadowing next. If you had more Elfy teams then I would think about Pass Block but if there is very little passing in the League, then there isn't much point!

Gutter Runners have alot of options. Depending on your style of play, different things might work for you. Personally, I take block first on all of my GRs (they have to stay alive if they're going to advance), and then either side step or strip ball. If I get a stat increase or doubles roll then I play it by ear depending upon what they've already got. Don't get nervous about taking strip ball on a ST2 player that has blodge. You'll go down occasionally, but most of the time the ball will pop out and you can swoop in with another GR to pick it up. I cannot give an opinion about Leap, as I haven't tried taking that on any of my GRs yet... something about the way I play means I never find myself needing it really. Good luck and keep us posted!

Well, I've played two more games and won them both (4-2 vs High Elves and 2-1 vs Wood Elves). Both my Gutter Runners got their second skills: one took Very Long Legs, and the other got +1 AG. My Thrower picked up Big Hand, and to top it all off and my Rat Ogre is the league casualty leader with 11 casualties inflicted in 7 games, and he just got his 3rd skill! He now had Block, Tackle, and Pro!! :D

This is by far the best team I have ever had, I've been extremely lucky, both in game and out of game. The team also just bought its third reroll.

Hopefully my Gutter Runner with VLL will get his third skill soon and I can give him Sprint.

If you manage to get that AG + Gutter Runner Leap as well, he's going to be your favorite player in a very short time. I've got a Block, Dantless, 5AG, Sure Hands runner and he anchors my team.

The rest of my league agrees, they want me to play against the top ranked Dwarf team, who has 6 players with Guard, 3 with Mighty Blow, and 4 with Piling On... I'm trying to avoid that meeting, but my TR is going up so fast that I won't have a choice...

I used to have a league going about 4 years ago in Vermont. If only I had known about the league in Montpelier, we could have had a tournament.

That's Montreal, not Montpelier. Although if there was a tourney in Vermont I am sure that you could convince us in Montreal to attend, it's only a 90 minute drive from here to Burlington.

Balrog, I know the difference between the two cities. The one further north has much better strip clubs and a much lower drinking age. Montreal also has the nicest muggers I have ever encountered.

I was thinking along the same lines in the tournament aspect, especially since Montreal is actually a lot closer to much of Vermont than large US cities like Boston. Unfortunately, I think my old group has scattered to the four winds and I'm not sure that there is still a BB group in central Vermont.

I'm not sure how you know that, but it sounds as if there's an interesting story here... care to share?
